INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: SR-62 (Twentynine Palms Highway) & Dumosa Avenue, Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): Knuderik Rasmussen, 70-year-old citizen of Denmark
SUMMARY: On Sunday, October 23, 2022, at approximately 8:48 p.m., Yucca Valley deputies responded to a reported vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision, near the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Dumosa Avenue.
Sheriff’s Morongo Basin Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and assumed the investigation. It was discovered 70-year-old Knuderik Rasmussen, was crossing Twentynine Palms Highway outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Rasmussen sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in this collision. The driver of the truck remained at the scene.
