INCIDENT: Terrorist Threats
LOCATION: Yucca Valley High School
SUMMARY: On September 21, 2022, Deputies with the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station received call regarding rumors of a school shooting to take place at Yucca Valley High School on September 22, 2022. Through investigation, it was determined a conversation had between a student and member of the school staff was overheard by other students. Information from the conversation was taken out of context and students began reporting to others that there was going to be a school shooting.
Deputies spoke with staff and the student involved in the conversation and learned no threat was made to the school. Deputies determined the incident was between two students. A report was taken for the incident and deputies are conducting an investigation.
It has been determined that there was no threat of a school shooting. Classes will resume as normal on Thursday, September 22, 2022.
