INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Threats, False Imprisonment, and Child Endangerment
LOCATION: 600 block of Covelo Ave., Landers
SUSPECT(S): Stephen Mark Frye, 45-year-old resident of Landers
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Friday, February 24, 2023, at approximately 9:17 a.m., deputies with the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station responded to a call for service regarding a 911 caller asking for help. Upon arrival, Stephen Frye was identified as the suspect and detained.
During the investigation, deputies learned Frye pointed a firearm at the victim and threatened to kill her. Frye prevented the victim and her infant child from leaving. After Frye was detained, a search warrant was obtained and served at the property. Deputies recovered several firearms from the location.
Frye was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for spousal abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, false imprisonment, and child endangerment. He is being held in lieu of $300,000 bail.
