TWENTYNINE PALMS – The Twentynine Palms Senior Center will be hosting bi-weekly art therapy groups offered by Painted Brain, a Los Angeles based non-profit, beginning on Friday October 21, 2022 from 12:30 – 1:30.
Painted Brain offers a variety of services focusing on mental health and one of its programs is through Art Therapy Groups. The groups use art activities to get people talking, interacting and having fun with each other. They bring art groups to agencies and communities in need of communal activity and shared purpose while tackling one of the most pervasive challenging people living with mental illness in our society, isolation.
With more individuals coming out of the pandemic having been isolated for so long, the class will focus on group interactions, helping participants to safely enjoy socializing while allowing themselves to be creative. For many seniors this will be an opportunity to be comfortable in group settings again and process emotions through art in various forms.
The group will be facilitated by Rhianna Nordlund – a Social Work Intern with Painted Brain and is open to the public. There is no cost for the groups and all supplies will be provided. For more information or to reserve your spot please call Reach Out
