The California Highway Patrol (CHP), Morongo Basin Area, conducted a Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) that began at 6:01 pm om September 2, 2022, and continued till 11:59 pm on September 5, 2022. This included a sobriety/driver license check that was conducted on September 2nd from 7:00 pm until 2:00 am.

During the checkpoint, there were 573 vehicles screened. Of those screened, 7 drivers were evaluated by officers to determine whether they were driving while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs. This resulted in 2 arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

The MEP concluded with a total of 6 DUI arrests over Labor Day weekend.
