Yucca Valley, CA (December 22, 2022) –– At the final Town Council meeting of 2022, the Yucca Valley Town Council reorganized to select a new mayor and mayor pro tem for 2023. The Town Council unanimously confirmed Council member Rick Denison as Mayor for 2023 and Council member Robert Lombardo as mayor pro tem. The Yucca Valley Town Council selects a mayor and mayor pro tem from the Town’s five elected council members on an annual basis.

“A mayor has the opportunity to thoughtfully represent the community to the public and to work closely with residents to make meaningful improvements,” said Mayor Denison. “I’m looking forward to once again having the privilege of serving as mayor of Yucca Valley.”

Originally elected to Town Council in 2014 and re-elected twice––in 2018 and 2022–– Mayor Denison previously served as mayor in 2018. He is also assigned to three regional committees: San Bernardino County Transportation Authority, SBCTA Mountain/Desert Policy Committee and So. California Associated Governments Delegate.

Newly appointed Mayor Pro Tem Lombardo was first elected to Town Council in 2012, with re-election to his seat in 2016 and 2020. He serves on a number of Town and Regional Committees while maintaining considerable community involvement, including serving as a former Town of Yucca Valley Planning Commissioner, Kiwanis Club member, Elks Lodge #2314 and Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce to name just a few.

“Rick Denison will do a commendable job serving as mayor, just as he has before,” commented Mayor Pro Tem Lombardo. “I look forward to supporting him and the rest of the council as we put Yucca Valley’s best foot forward in 2023.”

In other related action, Town Clerk Lesley Copeland administered the Oath of Office to the three councilmembers re-elected in November 2022; representing District 1 – Councilmember Jim Schooler; representing District 3 -Councilmember Merl Abel; and representing District 5 – Mayor Rick Denison.
