INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: Twentynine Palms, CA
SUSPECT(S): Miguel Angel Ibarra, 26-year-old Twentynine Palms resident
Michael Isaacs, 21-year-old Twentynine Palms resident
Damien Wilkerson, 20-year-old Twentynine Palms resident
VICTIM(S): Jervon Winston, 27-year-old Twentynine Palms resident
SUMMARY: On October 5, 2021, deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station were requested to initiate a missing persons report for 27-year-old Jervon Winston. The reporting party stated he was last seen on September 26, 2021, in Twentynine Palms.
On October 8, 2021, due to the suspicious nature of Winton’s disappearance, detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, assumed the investigation. Homicide detectives obtained additional information and evidence which indicated Winston was the victim of a homicide. Detectives located a crime scene at a residence in Twentynine Palms.
On October 9, 2021, Homicide detectives responded to Wonder Valley to investigate human remains, located in a remote desert location. The human remains were later identified as Winston. During the investigation, Homicide detectives identified Michael Isaacs and Damien Wilkerson as accessories to Winston’s murder and Miguel Ibarra as the suspect to Winston’s murder.
On Tuesday, October 12, 2021, detectives contacted Isaacs in Joshua Tree. After an interview, Isaacs was arrested for PC 32, accessory and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail. On November 19, 2021, detectives located Wilkerson in Columbia, Missouri. After the interview, Wilkerson was extradited to San Bernardino County and booked into jail for PC 32, accessory.
Homicide detectives continued their investigation into Winston’s murder and on March 6, 2022, Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division personnel located Ibarra at a home in Coachella and took him into custody for his active murder warrant. Ibarra was booked at the Central Detention Center for PC 187-Homicide.
