High Desert Emergency Action Alliance (HDEAA) Launches Free Naloxone Distribution Program to Combat Opioid Epidemic

YUCCA VALLEY, CA – In response to the ongoing opioid crisis, HDEAA is pleased to announce an initiative to distribute free Narcan to those who may need it. Narcan, also known as naloxone, is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. The distribution of Narcan nasal spray is part of HDEAA’s commitment to combat the opioid crisis and save lives. The organization has joined the California State Naloxone Distribution Program making Narcan readily available to those who may need it in the Morongo Basin.

“Opioid addiction and accidental overdoses are a very real problem and tragic reality, and we want to do everything we can to help our community,” said Justin Merino, HDEAA Director. “By making Narcan more accessible, we can save lives and reduce the devastating impact of the opioid epidemic.” Narcan is a safe and effective medication that can be administered by anyone, even without medical training. The medication works by blocking the effects of opioids and reversing the symptoms of an overdose.

HDEAA will be distributing Narcan free of charge to those who may need it, no insurance or ID is required. The organization will also be providing educational materials and training on how to use Narcan properly. “We want to make sure that everyone has access to Narcan and knows how to use it,” said Merino, who has witnessed the crisis firsthand as an EMT. “By working together, we can make a real difference in the fight against the opioid crisis.”
