SUMMARY: On Monday, April 3, 2023, at approximately 10:08 p.m., deputies with the Morongo Basin Station observed a silver Chevy truck at the intersection of Pueblo Trail and Balsa Ave., in Yucca Valley. The truck did not have a license plate and turned west onto Pueblo Trail, accelerating to an excessive speed. Deputies initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued west on Pueblo Trail at approximately 80 mph. The deputies continued to pursue the vehicle with their lights and siren activated.

The deputies approached the intersection of Pueblo Trail and Joshua Lane, which is a two-way stop controlled by a stop sign on Pueblo Trail. A female, who was not involved in the pursuit, was traveling south on Joshua Lane in her 2014 Toyota Tacoma. As she crossed the intersection, the deputies collided with her. The Tacoma traveled through a wooden fence at the intersection’s southwest corner. The suspect vehicle fled the area and was not located.

The driver of the Tacoma was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Both deputies later sought treatment for minor injuries and soreness.
