INCIDENT: PC 422 – Criminal Threats
LOCATION: Twentynine Palms Junior High School, 5798 Utah Trail, Twentynine Palms

SUMMARY: On Monday, September 19, 2022, at 9:45 p.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station were summoned to investigate the report of student related threat regarding Twentynine Palms Junior High School.
During the investigation, deputies learned a 13-year-old male student made a verbal threat to bring a firearm to the campus. Investigators identified the student and the location of his residence. At approximately 11:59 p.m., deputies contacted the juvenile and responsible party at their home in Twentynine Palms. Deputies conducted a search of the residence and no firearms were located. The juvenile was arrested for criminal threats and released to a responsible party.
This investigation was successful due to community members reporting suspicious activity. Morongo Unified School District officials have been in direct contact with law enforcement throughout the duration of the investigation. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department takes each criminal threat report seriously and will investigate each case to the fullest extent to ensure the safety of students and staff members at our local schools.
