It’s Weed Show Time Again
TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA: This November, the Twentynine Palms Historical Society will again host its Annual Weed Show at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, located at 6760 National Park Drive, Twentynine Palms, California. This uniquely 29 Palms event will be open to the public on Saturday (8 Nov) from noon to 4 pm and Sunday (9 Nov) from 10 am to 4 pm. There is no fee to enter your creation in the competition or to come view the show.
The Weed Show is one of Twentynine Palms’ oldest and most unique artistic traditions, drawing participants from across the Morongo Basin and attendees from across Southern California, the United States, and even the world. This annual display, now in its seventh decade, features artistic arrangements of indigenous desert vegetation as well as found objects both natural and man-made — a desert rendition of the traditional concept of floral display. Each show follows a specific theme. Entries are judged on subject matter, use of desert vegetation, use of accessories, artistic composition and originality. Awards will be granted in twelve categories, with a People’s Choice award to be decided by visitors to the exhibition.
This year Twentynine Palms Historical Society’s Weed Show Committee selected a theme based on the nursery rhymes we all learned as children. Please ensure you read all the rules as well as the categories.
Learned at birth
To give us mirth
Then stuck in our heads
Until were dead
No matter the season
We don’t need a reason
To take the time
To have fun with rhymes
