Never come to a gun fight with a rock
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Valley View Medical Center in reference to a male subject with a gunshot wound on July 19, 2014. Joseph Raymond Farmer, 37, of Mohave Valley, was brought to Valley View by his girlfriend and his sister with a single gunshot wound to the chest. Farmer was pronounced dead at Valley View a short time later. A later autopsy showed Farmer died from a single gunshot wound from a small caliber weapon.
MCSO Deputies located the scene of the shooting which occurred in the 5100 block of Pasadena Road in Mohave Valley. Deputies questioned witnesses who described a white Ford pick-up with a white male adult as the driver and the suspect in the shooting. During the course of the investigation MCSO Detectives learned the identity of the suspect, Michael Evan Fusting, 33, of Mohave Valley.
On July 22, 2014 Detectives were taken to Fusting’s vehicle along with the weapon used in the shooting. The vehicle and weapon were located in Golden Shores.
Fusting was located and questioned by Detectives on Wednesday July 23, 2014. Detectives learned from interviews with witnesses and Fusting that Fusting and Farmer knew each other from a prior dealing regarding a motorcycle.
Farmer was looking for Fusting on Saturday regarding that motorcycle. Farmer located Fusting in the 5100 Block of Pasadena Road. Farmer along with the two women in Farmer’s truck began throwing rocks at Fusting and his truck. Farmer broke out the window to Fusting’s truck and hit him with a rock. Fusting then shot Farmer with a .22 caliber pistol.
The investigation is continuing and will be sent to the Mohave County Attorney’s Office for a determination if any charges will be filed.
