Hi-Desert Water District: “Let’s Make a Sewer Deal…”
By Margo Sturges-Yucca Valley, Ca.,- One of my concerns with the Hi-Desert Water District sewer assessment is the inconsistent information coming out of the incompetent General Manager’s mouth at every turn of this ugly sewer saga and “Special Deals” offered to secure a yes vote for the sewer assessment.
The local newspaper deleted (censored) the list of issues I spelled out in my Soapbox containing 537 words, 600 words are allowed, reducing my submission to 300 words as a regular Letter to the Editor.
In my Soapbox Letter, I was raising the issue that GM Ed Muzik was wheeling and dealing behind the scenes with the larger voting blocks to insure their positive vote for the sewer assessment. As if we were living in China, my letter was redacted to remove all my concerns, without my permission or knowledge, it made NO sense as it was printed.
This local newspaper acted on behalf of the HDWD to prevent MY OPINION from being published! What an outrage!
It appears there is one example out there of the HDWD reducing a sewer assessment down from $80,000 to $34,000. This was done so the owner would not install a package treatment plant and PERHAPS to secure a yes vote for the sewer!
This General Manager has to go now…asap!
