Terry I agree with you and have been saying that for years now. They repaved two mile road past Sunrise and could have put a 2 foot shoulder on the road, but no, they put the white line on the edge leaving no room. I am still not sure what happens to elected officials. Is it possible they go thru some sort of training to learn how to make illogical decisions just to confuse the people. Baffling really. In the mean time progress passes our little city like a freight train.

If they made the shoulders wide enough to ride without impeding traffic , it would cover far more area than a bike path for the same amount of money. I think in turn, it would also encourage more riders.

Yep. It was quite the show. When I went in, I already knew that any argument against the trip would be ignored. But I must say, I was impressed with the way they acted as if this was the first anyone had heard of the trip. Then they "talked themselves into" taking it! Mr. Munsey said that he thought the Legislators should hear from an irate board member... How about taking an irate RATE PAYER along. After-all, we're paying for this trip. We could use the vacation, too!

What really ticked me off was when one of our Board members mentioned that they need some respite from time to time. If the job is that hard, spend your own dime and take a vacation!

Also, I'm sad to hear that 5 workers were laid off. Something that wasn't mentioned- Mr. Luckino got a new position with(I'm sure) a nice raise. I really don't consider that a good trade. 5 low-paid staff for 1 high-paid administrator? Does Mr. Luckino fix water leaks? Does he even go out into the field?

Mr. Stadum mentioned that the recession will not last forever and that HDWD needs to be in a position to excel when it is over. Well, I guess he's right. But why is it coming out of the rate-payers pockets when most of them can barely stay afloat during this recession? I know several people who would LOVE to be in a better position when this thing is over. But right now, they're busy trying to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads. HDWD is not helping with that.

There are many other concerns when it comes to HDWD spending our money to "get in position" for the end of the recession. For now, I'll just let the evidence keep on piling up.

It's time to remove each one of them as they come up for election and put someone else in that is in contact with the rest of our population!

Dan, I know you are wrong. But I'll have to wait for my next tax statement to see what it show. My tax payment for the maintenance is itemized on the tax bill.

I agree. I have only attempted to park in the plaza on several occasions and found it not to be very consumer friendly.
I need to get back to the original topic: THE KIDS, while discussing the "Temporary" closure of Monument,it was brought to my attention that several of the teachers live in Yucca Valley and that the administrator in Yucca is getting ready to retire at the end of the school year. So, the teachers no longer drive to 29 and the administrator from 29 goes into Yucca. Perfect. Except for those children who need to travel to Yucca every day. More to follow

Someone wasn’t thinking when they designed the Plaza redevelopment. True That. from a consumer standpoint they reduced parking and made it harder to get into the place and park.

To be serious No single amenity is garish but when you put all the artsy glitz together it is visual clutter. Was there a need to upgrade the parking lot at the old Plaza? Yes. But, and I might be in the minority on this, but I think the plaza is not as shopper friendly in the sense that its harder to find a parking space and the business' can not be seen from Adobe... and lets face it Adobe is the main drag.

If you can not be seen or if you can not have adequate signage off site the folks in the Plaza have a huge hurtle to jump.

I'm thinking that eventually the property owners and businesses will move to return the Plaza back to it's historic consumer and business friendliness. They do have the option now to do that. Redevelopment contracts are null and void as I understand it.

I am more concerned about the young people that I see walking along the path only to run across two mile to get on the sidewalk on the South side of the street so they can safely walk to the corner. Someone wasn't thinking when they designed the Plaza redevelopment. To continue the walk from just west of the buildings to the corner just makes sense.
You are correct Dan, the bike lanes are a complete waste of money.
They built a real nice expensive one on Adobe road and dedicated it to a member of the Navy who was killed riding his bike on Indian Trl. Maybe they should have repaired Indian Trail instead?
