It used to be Klasky and his group would send a threatening letter to civic leaders and cause a loss of bladder control. Those days seem to be over as more and more government is listening to the People and not “Special Interests.” The other day Phil Klasky and his group of malcontents from COW send the following letter to the San Bernmardino Code Enforcement Office and the Board of Supervisors. Community ORV Watch www.orvwatch.com May 12, 2010 Terri Williams, Director San Bernardino County Environmental Services 385 N. Arrowhead...

Il Duce demands a new Theater Complex

June 22, 2010
By
mpmus

It turns out that his nibs the right onerous, Gary Daigneault idea of moving Theater 29 from its present location was laughed down at tonight’s Council Meeting. It turns out that he wants the city to fund a commercial Cinema operation under the auspices of a Non-Profit Corporation. So not only does this dork want to chase a half dozen existing businesses away we wants to compete directly with Smith’s Ranch Drive-in. He asked the city to condemn everything between Cholla and Smoketree on Hwy 62 back to Verbena....

Surviving in a bad economy is not easy. Do you find yourself living paycheck to paycheck? Do you notice at the grocery store that the prices have gone up? That isn’t the only thing that has gone up. Our taxes went up on almost everything, the utility bills and gasoline. Those are just a few of the struggles trying to survive during a bad economy. I have been doing some research and found the top ten money saving things to do during these hard times. 1. Request interest rate/fee...

Paradise Valley

Yucca Valley, CA – On the edge of this town of almost 26,000 is a small, quaint community with street names like Robert, Ronald, David, Linda Lee and Marvin. You could almost imagine the characters from a 1950s sitcom skipping down these streets. Except there is a low-lying danger beneath these streets as dangerous as leaking methane gas: GANGS! Despite what some local reports and town leaders claim, gangland is growing in town. Residents of Paradise Valley are angry that of the few police on patrol in San Bernardino...

17 service members die in June, 17 more families without fathers or sons on Father’s day Another 17 families spent their first Father’s day without a father, or a son. The pentagon has released the names of 17 service members killed in Iraq and Afghanistan thus far in June, bringing the total to 214 for 2010. While Americans are understandably concerned with the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, a stagnant economy and a plethora of other issues, the two ongoing wars seem to get little attention in the...

June 21, 2010
By
northern-lights_1391708c

Where can we see the northern lights? The Northern Lights, as the name suggests, are especially related to the polar regions. They occur most frequently in a belt of radius 2500 km centered on the magnetic north pole. This so-called auroral zone extends over northern Scandinavia, Island, the southern tip of Greenland and continuing over northern Canada, Alaska and along the northern coast of Siberia. The coasts of the Norwegian counties of Troms and Finnmark lay where occurrence is greatest, making northern Norway, due to its ease of access...

What Father’s Day Really Means

June 20, 2010
By
fathersDay109

Mrs. John B. Dodd, of Washington, first proposed the idea of a “father’s day” in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. William Smart, a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife (Mrs. Dodd’s mother) died in childbirth with their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state. It was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father...

Remembering “Tripdog”

Yucca Valley, Ca.- I first read the post on Cactus Thorns and the name sounded familiar but I did not know why. While reading the local newspaper, I was captured by the photo of a smiling handsome man, larger than life, who passed away suddenly. I read the obituary notice describing his brief life on earth and the information for his Celebration of Life that took place last Saturday. I soon realized why his name sounded familiar, he was the brother of Ray Pessa that I recently met at...
