Hi-Desert Water District President Sarann Graham heading to Sacramento to attend a 2 hr Gala Reception at Ella’s Dining Room and Bar located in the downtown district of Sacramento using ratepayer funds! Yucca Valley, Ca.- It must be tough growing old and having missed the opportunity of being an important lobbyist working in Sacramento or Washington.  This was never my dream but apparently Hi-Desert Water District President Sarann Graham, a career politician, still dreams of the “Big Top.”  A self pro-claimed “Political Junkie,” her words, not mine, she enjoys ...

Gary Daigneault-Unable to Apologize Publically on Radio

Commentary- I believe in giving someone a second chance to do the right thing. I waited to post this commentary after the Z107.7 Friday talk show to see if Gary Daigneault, owner of the little radio station in this community, would apologize to Cora Heiser as he had promised last week. He did not keep his word. While claiming to “serve the community” with his radio broadcasts, Daigneault has used radio broadcasts to bully certain citizens and to promote his biased point of view on several matters. Some have called...

SILENT NIGHT “The origin of the Christmas carol we know as Silent Night was a poem that was written in 1816 by an Austrian priest called Joseph Mohr. On Christmas Eve in 1818 in the small alpine village called Oberndorf it is reputed that the organ at St. Nicholas Church had broken. Joseph Mohr gave the poem of Silent Night (Stille Nacht) to his friend Franz Xavier Gruber and the melody for Silent Night was composed with this in mind. The music to Silent Night was therefore intended for...

Yucca Valley, Ca.-Yes! Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel is the place where I worship. So sue me! Many, many years before we arrived in Yucca Valley, my husband attended Calvary in Orange County with Pastor Chuck delivering the sermons.  Notice I have NOT said anything about being members because there are no memberships at JSCC, no membership roster, period.  My membership is the union with the Lord in my heart, no matter where I attend Church, Bible Study and when singing songs of worship. There is a lot of singing...

Yucca Valley, Ca.-   At this evening’s Yucca Valley Town Council meeting, Town Manager, Mark Nuaimi hit two Grand Slams out of the ball park!  First up-Development Impact Fees. What first appeared as a tennis match  between Nuaimi and Deputy Town Manager Shane Stuckle rallying back and forth with questions, answers and information was actually a beautiful duet.  The Town Council members were swaying their heads side to side in unison while focusing on each statement made by these two. In the end, the duet presented an intelligent, logical...

Yucca Valley Councilman Isaac Hagerman from Facebook

Yucca Valley, Cal.- Prior this evening’s Town Council meeting, Councilman Isaac Hagerman was in the back kitchen maybe partaking in a slice (or more) of pizza while yelling out, “I  hate that Blog! I hate everyone on that Blog!” It seems he was not having a good day as he responded to another Councilman speak of the joy  reading Cactus Thorns. In a rare evening of trying to calm his nerves sitting on the dais , Hagerman spent most of the evening biting his finger nails down to the...

Information Please-Check The Dates Of Public Requests

Yucca Valley, Ca.- Any citizen can request public information from the  Town of  Yucca Valley by email and promptly receive the information, UNLESS, Town Manager Mark Nuaimi steps in to delay the request citing some Government Code gibberish to send the request in writing and placing funds on deposit with the Town providing self addressed stamped envelopes. Normally, the Staff are very accommodating, courteous and friendly at Town Hall. I sent an email to the Yucca Valley Town Clerk on May 13th requesting information regarding requirements for a voter initiative. Here is...

Open Letter to Captain Miller

Over the years we’ve managed to get credentialed by The City of Twentynine Palms, Assembly members Cook and Conway’s Offices, the Board of Supervisors, State Senators Dutton and Fuller, Both US Senators Feinstein and Boxer,  The Base PAO and about 20 other government agencies, including the main Public Affairs office of the San Bernardino Sheriffs Department and Riverside County Sheriff, but I can not get Cactus Thorns Credentialed with Captian Donny Miller of the Morongo Sheriffs Substation. Lord knows we’ve tried. Just a couple of months ago I was...
