Desert Trail: It was almost a good editorial

The omission was tantamount to bias news reporting. A story needs the essential facts, isn’t that right Kurt? The publisher and its editor need to move beyond local petty politics and report straight news, straight and fair. Yesterday, the Desert Trail published an editorial under the heading: The Desert Trail’s view: Educate yourself before heading to polls Nov. 2. The Editor made mention of the public offices that are up for grabs; the importance of getting involved in these elections;...

New thoughts and totally new approaches to concerns close to our hearts is encouraged in an open society. I found these thoughts interesting. “Indy” Amos of Joshua Tree brings to the discussion an interesting new approach. The Sun Runner Magazine – August / September Issue 2010 Don’t (Mojave) Cross Me! By “Indy” Amos, Joshua Tree Appearing in the Magazine’s “Letters from … you.” Why should it be a cross? If the aim is really to have a memorial for those killed in our wars, why not put up an...

2010 29 City Council Speakers Forum Stonewalled?

This Candidates Speakers forum is going to happen. It will happen with or without the use of a city building. It seem word may have come down from city hall to make things difficult for candidates, the community and the alternative news sources in the valley. This decision flies in the face of the full Council per its Aug. 31 Meeting. My understanding was that the full Council was going to consider wavier of fees for use of a city building. Readers may be aware that a syndicate of...

And important information concerning OHV, its desert riders and all interested parties. Desert Heights, June 22, 2010, TWENTYNINE PALMS - On a walk early this morning I came across Tommy Tortoise. He lives about twenty feet from the road in this feature photo. Tommy’s species have survived what Mother Nature and Planet Earth have dealt out for about 230 million years. I think of these creatures as time travelers. Good news.  Tommy Tortoise is alive and well, and appears to be okay for the moment.  I found him resting ...

The Curious Case of Steve Brown

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The Greatest Show on Earth. With all due respect to Steve Brown, I personally found his parting behavior from Cactus Thorns tacky and puzzling. But I still respect the guy and will continue to read his print media magazine, The Sun Runner. Steve is a clear asset to the community. But he is human and he did in fact cross the line with unnecessary and deeply personal attacks on Dan. There are other ways to deal with Dan. You work with him and he will...
