There is no pleasing that silly “Son of a Bitch”

WONDER VALLEY, CA– Well the Hi-Desert Star once again has accommodated the lunatic fringe Community ORV Watch in allowing their founding nut Phil Klasky another opportunity to prove that the extreme environmental crowd will never find common ground with the off road community. This weeks screed entitled Huge ORV race a chance for education proves to be another mean spirited attack on the family orientated Outdoor recreational community. For years Klasky has has been demanding that we in the off road community do our business in Johnson Valley. Now...

Michigan Community Makes designated Routes for ORVs

Designated route good compromise on ORV ordinance – Ogemaw County Herald Over the past couple of months, the West Branch City Council has been working on an ORV ordinance to allow ORVs to be operated within the city limits. A few weeks ago, we ran an editorial stating that the city should vote not to adopt the ordinance. Instead, the city council decided to take the ordinance back to the drawing board and make a few changes. The biggest change is the addition of a designated route into town....

Off-Roaders: Do it better, longer and look better doing it.

A new study by Canada’s prestigious York University has concluded that OHV users are healthier, have better attitudes and are much better looking than those nasty old never take a bath hippies posing as Environmentalists. Science doesn’t lie… well that’s what Phil Klasky keeps telling us. So if you wondered why Phil Klasky or Pat Flanagan appear to be so sickly, it is because they don’t ride a quad. If they got out with the millions of families that enjoy the great outdoors every weekend they might stop looking...

Encroachment onto marine base property has become an active issue and people are being cited for trespassing by a resource conservation officer under contract by the 29 palms marine base.  Currently the signage is poor and inadvertent trespass is likely. The access road from Emerson dry lake at the dyke to los padres mine or giant rock road is being monitored and citations are being written. Giant rock rd. between giant rock and los padres mine crossed the base property and can be problematic as well. There are no...

Well other than that it was your regular dog and pony show

The COW meeting was well attended by the pro-off road group. We out number the greens 1.5 times. Local Code Enforcement head Mike Romage was actually brilliant. He dodged and parried like Earl Flynn as he explained that as much as COW would like to make a big deal of things there wasn’t much of anything to make a big deal about. OHV complaints are way down. Tickets are way down and it seems that everyone except the Cow “Steer-ing Committee” who wanted to talk about threats and intimidation....

Two ways of life collide in Wonder Valley

First published in the Los Angeles Times on January 5, 2010. Reporting from Wonder Valley — Eric Hamburg bought a house in this valley of wrinkled mountains and sugar-soft sand to escape life in Los Angeles and drink in the empty solitude only the desert can provide. “I loved the peace and quiet. I loved the tremendous sky. I loved the heat in the summer,” he enthused about his remote getaway outside Twentynine Palms. “It was like a safety valve for me.” FOR THE RECORD: Wonder Valley: An article...

San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Department, Code Enforcement, BLM invited to attend

Joshua Tree, Ca– Would you attend November 22? Not me no way! Look who Phil Klasky’s community orv watch is inviting to the table. Sheriff’s Department, Code Enforcement, Bureau of Land Management, the California Highway Patrol and District Attorney’s office. They are being invited to discuss how they are addressing trespass, staging, nuisance, harassment and intimidation and property destruction by off-road vehicles. I personally would not want to associate my self with this fringe group of people yet alone tie my name to it. Their invitation to discuss is...

Hey Elmendorp, you putz

“I want Discovery Communications to broadcast on their channels to the world their new program lineup and I want proof they are doing so. I want the new shows started by asking the public for inventive solution ideas to save the planet and the remaining wildlife on it,” the alleged manifesto reads, adding:”Nothing is more important than saving … the Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels. The humans? The planet does not need humans.” James J. Lee, Discovery...
