2010 29 City Council Speakers Forum Stonewalled?

This Candidates Speakers forum is going to happen. It will happen with or without the use of a city building. It seem word may have come down from city hall to make things difficult for candidates, the community and the alternative news sources in the valley. This decision flies in the face of the full Council per its Aug. 31 Meeting. My understanding was that the full Council was going to consider wavier of fees for use of a city building. Readers may be aware that a syndicate of...

Suffering from Premature Jubilation

Poor Mel Berlin. His first venture as the “Big Kahuna” and its all a bust. News has it, that because of his hasty posting on the Action Council 29′s web site that the Chalk-fest was as good as a done deal, even before the Council voted on it, has caused the sudden evaporation of much if not all support for such an event for this year. The City manager reports that he has not given any money out of his discretionary funds nor has he made any promises to...

It’s the “Close Up Show” with BS artist extraordinaire

Gary Daigneault on Jay Corbin. I was traveling westbound this morning on Highway 62 in Yucca Valley going about my business.  Along the East End of town where the EMI power lines have the FM radio stations buzzing, I hit the search button to find the next station. It’s the “Close Up Show” with our own bullshit artist extraordinaire, Gary Daigneault.  I listen in for a while.  A very nice and well spoken lady called in to raise concerns about 29 Palms Council Candidate Jay Corbin. The caller...

The Irony: KCDZ 107.7 Local News Stories

Dang, it’s been a long and hot weekend. I know that because I was out in the sun for a long period of time.  It was 116 degrees in Desert Heights.  That’s hot.  And we have yet to reach the two hottest months of the summer. What is not hot is our local radio station. It’s Monday morning, 7:00 am. Many of us Morongo Valley folks want to read the local Morongo Basin news on the World-Wide Web.  The station holds themselves out as an award wining small station...

Free Phone Friday: Gary expresses his love. Ah ain’t that somethin’

So after Gary Daigneault’s passionate rant on his really ..really, really… I mean really close friend Jerry “Jay” Corbin and how a single elected official could make a “Hostile Work Environment” I had to write this. For a Professional bureaucrat, like Corbin, who had no problem making life impossible for the citizens of this town in his official capacity, but then had problems with one guy like Spear so bad that it  could make him so upset that he would quiver in his panties is a hoot. I guess...

Scotty’s Castle is yet another 70 miles north of Furnace Creek. The road takes you from the lowest point in the United States to 4,000 feet above the valley floor in a sort of cooler spot.
