Morongo Basin: Tsunami spate of fees, fines, tax increase

COMMENTARY| OPINION | SUNDAY, JULY 24, 2011 By Branson Hunter “I remembered the way out suggested by a great princess when told that the peasants had no bread: ‘Well, let them eat cake.’” — Jean-Jacques Rousseau, ‘Confessions’ Many will agree with Sacramento Bee Columnist Dan Walters when on Friday he wrote an article entitled: Why raise taxes when officials squander our money? Heading our way like a massive tsunami are new local and state tax increases, fines and fees. Though, while there are no chickens in most pots of...

From the Office of Supervisor Neil Derry: This can’t be true…

October 2010 -  County of San Bernardino District 3, Supervisor Neil Derry – Update November 2 – Do Not Forget to Vote - The other day, I read two different articles that gave me pause. One article referenced a ballot measure in Portland, Maine that will go before the voters on Nov. 2. It would allow legal residents who are not American citizens the right to vote in local elections. Some jurisdictions in Maryland have even granted illegal aliens the right to vote in local elections. Contrast those stories...

The following story was sent to me via e-mail for publication. It is interesting to say the least. By Dennis “Drinkin” Dinkin, October 20, 2010, Twentynine Palms - One citizen asked, “Were you registered and did you vote in the last City Council election?
