Is Our City Officials Safe? Are We?

After hearing and reading about what happened at a board meeting in Panama City, Florida, where a disgruntled man started shooting the board members because his wife lost her job at the school district. It makes me wonder if our city officials and those in the community who attend meetings are safe. For instance, how would we know if someone got irrate or was upset at a council meeting and started shooting the council members because they disagreed with them? Even though there is a police officer that attends...

Building Nightmare

So…..some history. I have a contractor/developer from out of the area building a house next door to me. He asked to tie into my gas line which would have meant digging up my front yard, driveway and going under my retaining walls and installing the gas line which would take a week and cost him about 2K (using his crew, they don’t speak a lick of English) His other option was digging across the street and he would have to pay 5K (I know this from the gas company)....

“As Steve Sees It” – Pre-Election Statement

DESERT29 – I thought I would take this opportunity to re-post an “As Steve Sees It”. I wanted to re-post my campaign message written 17 July because 3 ½ months later, I still feel the same way. I want to thank my supporters and those who have the same passion for our community as I do. I ask you to think about this as you get ready to vote Tuesday. Do you feel we need a city that has something to offer for all, a city that treats all...

Public Candidate Forum A Success!

The first public candidate form was a success. All the candidates were there, although some appeared a little nervous. The public was asked to ask our questions on a 4×5 card and drop them into a box for the candidates. I was lucky enough to have my two questions picked and I was amazed by the answers. The candidates sat on a stage and I wanted to get a good seat so I can take pictures and see everyone without anyone’s head in the way. I planted myself in...

Are you ready for this one?

Mr. Tree is looking to stiff the citizens of Twentynine Palms just in case a new Council decides they need to replace him. The existing contract with Michael Tree forces the city to pay 6 months of his salary if he is fired or replaced. He is asking for a change in his contract that will boost it to a full year (12 months) of pay to get rid of him. Don’t you wish you had a deal like that with your boss? CITY OF 29 PALMS AGENDA REPORT...

Hmmm-OHV Trail Grants, Just imagine the posibilities

Why doesn’t the city of 29 Palms get in on this action? Some people say they don’t want their tax dollars going to (heaven forbid) any OHV use, so this looks like a good opportunity for the City to get some help with their OHV trails. Even during the trails meeting some mentioned that they were really limited on funding for the trails, well here is some money JUST for OHV. I bet the city could really do a lot for the trail with a piece of that $27...
