Schwarzenegger urges regional action on climate change

capitalAlert.com- Schwarzenegger urges regional action on climate change Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, speaking about climate change at a United Nations forum in New York this morning, said he will “keep pushing regional governments around the world to come off the sidelines” to enact green energy programs such as California did during his tenure. “We don’t have to wait anymore for the national capitols to make it happen,” Schwarzenegger said. “Some of the most powerful movements in human history did not start at the top. … The battle for clean...

Surf Dog: A Patriot Standing His Ground

Since I and other Vets are the recipients of all of the good and hard work that Bill Connell of Surf Dogs did for the Veterans of the State of California, I think it is proper that we should keep this story alive and on line. Thanks Bill. It works I just got my free licenses today, after years of paying through the nose. California Requests Billions From U.S. – WSJ.com By STU WOO and JIM CARLTON SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger asked for $6.9 billion in federal funds in his state-budget proposal Friday and warned that state health and welfare programs would be threatened without the emergency help. Mr. Schwarzenegger’s proposed $82.9 billion general-fund budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year would close a $19.9 billion gap over 18 months. In addition to the federal aid, he called for $8.5 billion in cuts and $4.5 billion in alternative funding to balance...

Congress back-hands California and other border states

Congress has been remiss for decades in seriously shirking its responsibilities in putting teeth to border enforcement. California alone spends $10.5 Billion annually on  illegal immigrations costs. The cost to jail illegal immigrants is astronomical. Congress is scrambling around like a gaggle of displaced geese for funds to pay for another ten years of war in Afghanistan, now this.  This war comes at a great hidden cost to the American people.  We need that money here in the homeland.  California needs help with its problems cause by congressional incompetence....

Posted: 11/28/2009 07:54:41 PM PST We like and respect Assemblyman Bill Emmerson of Redlands. We have endorsed him in past elections and think he does a good job in the Legislature – to the extent anyone does in that dysfunctional body. But we’re not so high on his becoming state Sen. Bill Emmerson of Hemet. Call us old-fashioned – even Bob Stern of the Los Angeles-based Center for Governmental Studies would – but we still think representatives of the people should come from among the people they represent. So...

Dan Walters: California debt may be half a trillion dollars

< ![CDATA[ Just days before Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and legislators finalized a water package, including an $11.1 billion bond issue, state Treasurer Bill Lockyer warned them not to do it. California is already deeply in debt, Lockyer warned, has huge budget deficits and can’t afford another big bond issue. “The days of blithely heaping more and more debt burden on the general fund are over – at least they should be,” Lockyer said. The earmark-laden bond issue, the package’s single most controversial element, raises an interesting question: Just how...
