Nuaimi Putting Out the Big Fires in Fontana?

March 13, 2012
By
illinois

Fontana, Cal.- According to the Press Enterprise article from January 9, 2012 ranking 47 local cities for their 2009-10 total RDA indebtedness, Fontana ranked #one with $2, 664,951,323 dollars.  (Yes, that’s Two Billion, Six Hundred Sixty Four million, Nine Hundred Fifty One Thousand + change.) While I do not pretend to know the exact dates the RDA debt was racked up, the previous mayor, Mark Nuaimi, would know more about this as he was the Mayor for  several years before resigning to take the job as the Yucca Valley...

Small Radio Station, Z107.7, Endorses Candidate Jim Bagley

March 11, 2012
By
Brighton-300x237

Last month, during one of the live call in talk shows, host Gary Daigneault and owner of the small local radio station, KCDZFM/ 107.7, endorsed Candidate Jim Bagley running for a seat as Third District Supervisor.  Daigneault admitted  they had a few run-ins in the past but felt Bagley was  suited to represent the area as a home-grown local from Twentynine Palms. Daigneault started to list Bagley’s “long list of qualifications,” as he put it but stopped short after citing #1, probably due to the possibility he would be...

San Bernardino Seal

Forget about the “Recommendations” of the City of Twentynine Palms or Yucca Valley Council members to nominate to the County of San Bernardino to fill County seats on the Successor Agency Oversight Board. You can apply directly to the SB Board of Supervisors for consideration. In a Successor Agency  Staff report presented by Mark Nuaimi, appointed Executive Director of the Successor Agency to the Yucca Valley Redevelopment Agency, dated March 1, 2012 , he spelled out the complete history leading up to the dissolution of the Redevelopment Agencies.  ...

Hey! HDWD Ed Muzik…..Where is my Apology?

March 9, 2012
By
"Hands Up!"

Yucca Valley, Ca- It seems that the General Manger of the Hi-Desert Water District, Ed Muzik, likes to play Hide & Seek trying to discredit my reputation.  The easiest thing to do as a dashing gentleman, is to politely apologize to me for the statements he made at the HDWD  meeting of February 15th. Here is a YouTube video to get you in the mood:              I’m Sorry. Muzik was misinformed and thought he caught me in a lie!!! Oooohhhh! My readers know that I do not lie….. make some...

By
Jim Schooler

Yucca Valley Council Votes to Wipe out “Zero-Depth Kiddie Splash Pad.” Yucca Valley, Ca-It was four years ago that Community Service Director Jim Schooler presented his staff report stating the Parks & Recreation Commission voted to apply the CDBG funds, Community Development Grant Funds, to one project to upgrade the playground equipment because the Town was out of compliance. That was NOT the case.  Fortunately, then Mayor Frank Luckino, opened up public comments again to hear from the Parks & Rec Commissioners seated in the audience.  Chair Mike Alberg...

Once again, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Morongo Basin Station, assisted by investigators from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, conducted a “Minor Decoy” sting operation at ABC licensed locations across the Morongo Basin.  During this type of operation, minor decoys enter licensed “off-sale” locations and attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages.  Decoys are required to tell employees their true age and present their true identification if asked. During the operation, decoys attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages from 42 locations.  Employees at three locations sold alcoholic...

What is “Pie in the Sky?”

By
Pie-in-the-Sky-34x28in-1978-1

Yucca Valley, Ca.- There are so many phrases and sayings that I have taken for granted but need to double check before using them on this public forum for any incorrect meaning, interpretations and/or slang meaning. The first search that I use is to Google the word or phrase to get the dictionary definition and general idea to determine if I need any further research. The next search engine that I will use is Wikipedia and finally Urban Dictionary for the modern-day slang definition.  The latter is not for...

HDWD Granny Graham Should Retire

February 26, 2012
By
Sarann Graham_a

Yucca Valley, Ca.- While I was recuperating and unable to attend meetings, the hi-jinks continued at the Hi-Desert Water District, led by President Sarann Graham. As I have been attending these meetings over the past four years, it is evident that Granny Graham is not quite on top of her game and should be thinking about retiring from the HDWD.  This District needs sharp thinkers, young minds with a business sense and able to think out of the box.  As she struggles to conduct meetings, often losing her place...

“Cabana Boy Hagerman” Endorses Ramos! Huh?

February 26, 2012
By
IsaacHagerman_jpg

Yucca Valley, Ca.- Mayor Pro-tem (by a fluke of the rotation cycle and two resignations), Isaac Hagerman,  appears to be anxious to wield his big new title to endorse candidates.  In this case, James Ramos (D), should have been asked Hagerman to complete an application of “credibility” before accepting his endorsement. While never holding office in high school, never holding any appointed positions for the Town of Yucca Valley, and never attending Town Council meetings, Hagerman was elected to the  Council a year ago.  Campaign manager, Shannon Luckino, led...

No matter how much booze you buy you ain’t getting None!

The police departments of Yucca Valley and 29 Palms, in conjunction with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), will be conducting minor decoy and shoulder tap operations throughout the Morongo Basin during the coming months in an effort to reduce the availability of alcoholic beverages to minors. Selling or providing alcoholic beverages to minors is a serious crime with serious consequences. Businesses that sell or provide alcoholic beverages can have action taken against their liquor license, up to and including revocation. Individuals who sell or provide alcoholic...

Horsemen’s Playday

February 4, 2012
By
Lori Parker

Twentynine Pams, CA–  Since I’ve been spending time photographing horses a friend of mine suggested that I attend the Morongo Basin Horsemen’s Association Play day on January 25 at Parkers’ Area in Twentynine Palms. This was the first Playday that I had attended since I quit participating and it seemed strange to just be an onlooker. (I was going to say how many years it had been but I decided that it’s too depressing to think how long it’s been.) There was a nice turnout and it was fun to watch as...

Hi-Desert Water District President Sarann Graham heading to Sacramento to attend a 2 hr Gala Reception at Ella’s Dining Room and Bar located in the downtown district of Sacramento using ratepayer funds! Yucca Valley, Ca.- It must be tough growing old and having missed the opportunity of being an important lobbyist working in Sacramento or Washington.  This was never my dream but apparently Hi-Desert Water District President Sarann Graham, a career politician, still dreams of the “Big Top.”  A self pro-claimed “Political Junkie,” her words, not mine, she enjoys ...
