On Thursday, February 2, 2012, the Blythe Narcotic Enforcement Team (BNET) along with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department – Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) investigated a murder-for-hire plot involving Earl Joseph Gomez, 47, from Blythe. The investigation determined that Gomez attempted to solicit a co-conspirator to have two persons murdered for money. Gomez was subsequently arrested for two counts of attempted murder and attempt to solicit to commit murder and booked into the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Indio Jail. Blythe, CA– During the month of January 2012, the Blythe Narcotic Enforcement Team (BNET) arrested 71 persons. Twenty-five of those arrests were felonies and 46 were misdemeanors. Nearly sixty thousand dollars in cash was seized as asset forfeiture, $3,000 dollars in stolen property was recovered, and five juveniles were arrested on felony violations. On Thursday, January 26, 2012, at about 10:31 P.M., a deputy from the Cabazon Station was on routine patrol in a vehicle equipped with the Automated License Plate Reader, (ALPR), when he observed a Honda traveling at a high rate of speed through the roundabout intersection of Apache Trail and the I-10.
