Ok… It was like this big ”Roseanne Roseannadanna” moment for me this evening, as The Ricker guy assured me that the letter was not directed to me. It was more like a blanket form letter to those swarthy like guys who sell Phoney Ran Bans and do surveillance on the main gate so they can slip the odd IED through and plant it on the General’s Parade Ground. OK the way he explained it is far far better than the way they wrote it in the letter. What a great showing for a Planning Commission Meeting....

Who the hell is this Ricker Dude?

I was reviewing the Planning Commission agenda and came across this letter purporting to represent the United States Marine Corp and its desire to involve itself into both Local Civilian Government and a desire to limit the Free Enterprise System outside the boundaries of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. I don’t know who this J.M. Ricker is but I’ll tell you one thing the guy is some kind of anti business, anti-free market socialist of the first order. Who does he think he is to demand in the name of the United States Marine Corps that the...

thank-a-veteran

I rarely repeat someone else’s story, but today while reading the opinion page of  The Sun I was struck by a particular opinion article written by Paul Chabot.  Before writing this, I ran a check on Dr. Chabot and I was thoroughly impressed.  I am confident that his piece is a heartfelt cry to the residents of California to stand up for our veterans’ rights to the best health care.  His call to action is to contact your local, state, and federal elected officials and let them know that...

Horsemen’s Playday

February 4, 2012

Twentynine Pams, CA–  Since I’ve been spending time photographing horses a friend of mine suggested that I attend the Morongo Basin Horsemen’s Association Play day on January 25 at Parkers’ Area in Twentynine Palms. This was the first Playday that I had attended since I quit participating and it seemed strange to just be an onlooker. (I was going to say how many years it had been but I decided that it’s too depressing to think how long it’s been.) There was a nice turnout and it was fun to watch as...

It’s a Win-Win for Local Schools and Copper Mountain College

The full text accompanying this graph can be found at this pdf Link. Legislative Analyst Report – California 2011-2012 Budget (scroll down 5  pages). The use of property tax increments laundered through the old draconian redevelopment agencies before being euthanized is staggering: 58% went to redevelopment agencies. Now, however, the Legislative Report estimates schools and community colleges will receive over half the revenues with the demise of redevelopment agencies. Legislative Analyst Report – California 2011-2012 Budget (scroll down 4 pages). This just may stave off another local tax increase...

Judge refuses to halt demise of California redevelopment agencies – Sacramento News – Local and Breaking Sacramento News | Sacramento Bee A Sacramento Superior Court judge Friday refused to stave off the elimination of more than 400 local California redevelopment agencies, rejecting arguments that the Legislature violated the state constitution by cutting off their funding. Judge Lloyd G. Connelly’s ruling on two lawsuits by 12 cities means the agencies stand to be dissolved by Wednesday. His refusal to grant a stay in the cases handed another victory to Gov. Jerry Brown, who has counted on the elimination of redevelopment...

(Twentynine Palms City Council) Hey Guys, Thanks For Listening.

January 29, 2012

time to listen

Admittedly, I haven’t attended the last two city council meetings, but I have read the coverage and results of said city meetings.  So I base my right to write this article on the past year of experience with the city council and my fight against Redevelopment Agencies and the bonds they issued. The main issue is who has the City Council been listening to? Not the property owners of the full steam ahead Project Phoenix. Not the citizens that have expressed opposition to the bonds and the expanded Project...
