If this isn’t an indication that this is the End of Redevelopment, the founder of RSG, Inc the morons Consultants that have been telling our City Council to fight the State and sue the Department of Finance is Bailing out, jumping ship, and flying the coup.  No surer example of …. its over when its over… Hey Larry? La Quinta hires new city manager The La Quinta City Council hired a new city manager Tuesday night. Frank Spevacek, 58, begins the new job in June. He will make $195,000 annually...

My beautiful picture

A quick note to folks who have been backing the change to the Peddling and Vending laws in Twentynine Palms. After 7 Months and as many hearings and study sessions a new Ordnance was hammered out last night. The new tough law is now on to the Full Council for approval. I would like to thank those that have supported Fay and I through this. Maybe you will be able to see our food cart in town regularly and as a fixture of the business community.

Local Radio Station Reports Warne makes 4th appeal to DoF

May 14, 2012
By

This morning Gary Daigneault has reported on KCDZ-FM that Warne has commissioned yet another Appeal to the Department of Finance to pay for Project Phoenix. It swings from ridiculous to sublime, as the Staff and contract consultants of the City of 29 Palms seem to make it clear that their loyalty is not to the people of 29 Palms but to the revenue stream of the now defunct Redevelopment agency. The Department has repeatedly stated in letters and emails to the city’s Manager, Attorney and this RSG bunch that (DoF wrote...

State questions redevelopment expenses | Local: In Alameda | an SFGate.com blog

May 12, 2012

Hundreds of California cities are undertaking the painful process of dissolving their redevelopment agencies. But they need to win the state’s assent before they can pay their remaining bills. State finance officials are challenging about a third of the roughly $1 billion in redevelopment expenses city officials here in Alameda say they need to pay, but city staffers said they will continue to press their case. “They’re taking kind of a very hard line of what it means to be under contract,” the City of Alameda’s Debbie Potter said...

Baker, CA– On Thursday, 5/10/2012 at approximately 4:00 PM, a hiker flagged down the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Resident Deputy Sheriff out of Baker in the area of Nipton Road and Interstate 15. The hiker directed the deputy to where a human skull was found in the Mojave National Preserve. On Friday, 5/11/2012, the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail and Coroner Division responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The remains do not appear to be historical. Let’s Recap this Project Phoenix thing

May 12, 2012
By
mzl.vxzotxww.1024x1024-65

This Project Phoenix Bond Scam thing has consumed a huge hunk of time over the last couple of years and disrupted lives of the City Council, Staff, A. Patrick Munoz, and the Bloggers here at CactusThorns. The present Council took a solvent, and  well healed city with a reserve of several Million dollars in banks on a 2 year game of 3-Card Monty. Redevelopment was a $1.5 Million dollar a year slush fund that had been contributing to puffed up salaries, lavish junkets for Council and Staff and a huge war...

Talk to the Oversight Board…. Here!!

May 10, 2012
By
bump_oversight_board

Its obvious that the City of Twentynine Palms does not want to hear your input on the issue of the dissolution of the former Redevelopment Agency. But the Oversight board I am told does. Here is your opportunity to tell the Oversight Board what you feel about the issues, that include the Bonds, Project Phoenix or any other proposed Obligation that taxpayers might be burdened with because of the former RDA. We are not going to give you the email addresses of the Oversight Board but what we will do is...

Yo Tony!! You are wrong…

May 9, 2012

youre-wrong

I have been reading Mr. Munoz’s letter to the Department of Finance and find that it falls way short  of  supporting the City’s belief that the Bonds are tied to Project Phoenix or that Project Phoenix would be even considered a viable candidate for being listed as an Obligation on the ROPS. It is not even remotely close to shovel ready and no construction bids have ever be put out to bid, nor a single construction contract signed. It is all blue sky. Mr. Munoz hangs his argument of...

On Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at approximately 8:26 a.m., deputies from Victorville Station responded to a suspicious circumstances call in the area of Hesperia Rd. near Sunset Ave. The caller reported dead body was found at that location. Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed there was a deceased adult male, white or Hispanic, approximately 30 to 50 years of age. The deceased was dressed in female clothing, with a tattoo of a diamond above each eyebrow and a tattoo on his right cheek that appears to be a number....

I feel like Sally Fields at the Oscars…. You like me…. you really like me.. Its a shock to find one day you come to a City Council Meeting and people actually gathered around me instead of the usual… “move away from the trouble maker… move along nothing to see here.” The council meeting for me was a real blast. I know the Council felt a little uncomfortable and those Lawyers looked like the were waiting for the tar and feathers, but hey, I had a great time. I got slaps...

Dutton Bond Legislation no help to 29 Palms

May 8, 2012
By
Lifesaver

Not even Senator Dutton’s RDA Bond fix will save us from doom. The effective date of the Bonds here is on or before December 31, 2010. Ours were  approved in March of 2011.  SB 986 (Dutton) Redevelopment: bond proceeds. Existing law dissolved redevelopment agencies and community development agencies, as of February 1, 2012, and provides for the designation of successor agencies, as defined. Existing law requires that successor entities perform certain duties, including, among others, remitting unencumbered funds of that agency to the county auditor-controller, and overseeing the use of...

Can it get any worse?

May 8, 2012

Few things can unite a town. Natural disasters, a fire, a baby down a well can all be the things that bring us together but also a whole town is united when it is snookered by its own political elite. Anyone who has followed the demise of the Redevelopment Agencies pretty much understands that the Fat Lady Sang on projects not in the construction phase. Well everyone except our local political establishment. We now find out that our leaders floated a bond that has no purpose nor do we have the ability to spend the...
