April 11, 2012   See the excellent presentation on Youtube:   The California Motorized Recreation Council (CMRC), an umbrella group of the eight largest OHV access groups in California, has agreed to contract terms with the Livingston Group, LLC in Washington, DC to help stave off the expansion of the 29 Palms Marine Base. The move comes on the heels of the expected April 27th, 2012 release of a Final Environmental Impact Study (FEIS) by the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps wishes to annex approximately 160,000 acres of...

Mitzelfelt for Congress? …You bet!

March 23, 2012
By
bradmitzelfelt

He is one of us. He is real people and has truly demonstrated his ability and desire to serve real people. Metzelfelt is an avid outdoorsman who appreciates the importance of recreation. It was his perseverance that restored our property rights and ended the requirement of a $150.00 permit to off road on your own private property. He has been pressing Congress to re-open, to practical use, portions of the public land east of the Base that Feinstein managed to lock away years ago. That area never did meet...

OHV Defense Council Forms to Protect Grant Funding

March 22, 2012
By
Lady-Justice

The firm of Baker, Manock and Jensen has been retained by a collaborative group of OHV organizations for the purpose of defending OHV grant funding and specifically the diversion of $10M of OHV funds annually back to the general fund. The attorneys have been directed to concentrate on the constitutionality of the take, and they have agreed to pursue this avenue. They also agree that it is our strongest argument. We received a draft retainer agreement, which includes a ‘re-evaluation and review’ mandatory report when costs reached $10,000. At...

The Hammers 2012: A Pictorial Review

February 14, 2012
By
2-10-12 #10a Crowd at Chocolate Thunder.

This is one of many activities that occurs regularly in the Johnson Valley Open OHV area east of Lucerne Valley. The 29 Palms Marine Base wants to turn this area into an extension of their base and exclude the public. Us residents and desert outdoor entusiasts obviously want to prevent that from happening. Please help us fight back the Feds and convince politicians to side with us.

Did anyone notice his Hi-Desert Star Soap-box article? Here it is in a NUT shell!  Off-roaders are out of control… Thanksgiving holiday was a nightmare… There was widespread illegal off-road vehicle activity… Excessive dust and noise… Riders trespassed… Riders used CSA roads as a playground… ORVs were on illegal routes… Sheriff’s Department and Code Enforcement cannot cope with the onslaught… Lands off-limits to ORVs become a free-for-all… ORVs cause unsafe conditions on public roads… Riders feel as though they can go wherever they want without any consequences… Riders wreak...

This is from COW’s website. Is Klasky the author? It doesn’t say, nor does it say where the facts and figures came from. My bet is that it is Klasky and that he pulled this stuff out of his ass… too.     Taxpayers Subsidize ORV Events on BLM Lands Submitted by orvwatch on Fri, 2011-08-19 08:06. COW Actions | Damage to the Desert | Illegal Riding | News Last year, a deadly ORV race on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands focused attention on “cost recovery” of these...

Feinstein v Pipe’s Canyon

Feinstein v Pipe’s Canyon

Make no mistake, the federal mandate will be met! Good stewardship of our resources demands it and dependence on foreign oil is breaking America’s back. One way or another 20% of our energy will come from renewable sources by year 2020 and California will see to it that 30% of its power is green by then. Unfortunately for us, Senator Feinstein Dem. Ca. has already locked up vast tracts of open desert to any such practical use as solar and wind farming and is now pushing a bill that...

Re. Your Base Expansion Letter

Important and Helpful Information from Betty Munson Pres. Johnson Valley Improvement Association http://www.johnsonvalley.com/jvia.html OUTDATED STRATEGY Hi all, This is a comment on defects of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) based on the long lag time between the original training plans and the time the proposed base expansion was presented to the public, and the years since. The argument is that the plans are outdated, therefore the DEIS is fatally flawed in its entirety. There is backup evidence included (thanks to John Hack of Oceanside for the leads). There...

5/4/11 Re. Report on effective Marine Base letter writing seminar By Betty Munson Johnson Valley Improvement Association; Last Tuesday’s 29Palms Base Expansion Comments Workshop was an eye-opener. In four hours representatives from the California Offroad Vehicle Association laid out in simple terms the best methods for composing your comment or comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.
