HDWD DIRECTORS GRAHAM, STADUM AND HOUGH DEFEND ARTWORK ...are they lacking professional decorum and decency? Yucca Valley, Ca.-I sent an email to Jennifer Cusack, Staff member of the Hi-Desert Water District, objecting to one piece of art hanging in the lobby. I felt this was not appropriate for a public agency and asked, “Porn?” No one responded to my email or returned my calls, including the General Manager, Ed Muzik, who declined to release his direct phone number. In this artwork collage of mixed media, there are the following...

“Illusion Art”…..Do You See What I See?

“Illusion Art”…..Do You See What I See?

Yucca Valley, Cal.- Remember the artwork and posters of abstract dots that required you to stare at the center, slightly crossing your eyes, and finally see an image “pop out” at you? It was quite the fad at the time and my parents warned us against crossing our eyes because they feared our eyes would get stuck in that position…so they said. My artist friends told me about another form of “Illusion Art” using optical illusion to trick the viewer to see one image from a distance of the...

Yucca Valley, Ca.- At Wednesday’s Special Meeting of the Hi-Desert Water District, there were three representatives from the California Regional Water Quality Control Board sitting in the audience; Assistant Executive Officer: Jose Angel, Legal Counsel: Tom Vandenberg and Engineer Jon Rokke.  I asked Jose why he brought the whole posse with  him.  He said they  wanted to sit in and observe a HDWD Board meeting.  Looks like they picked a good meeting- looking back at the swirl of events, comments, musical chair chaos especially the meandering Board & Staff...

Landers, Ca.- In an unusual move, the San Bernardino LAFCO agency, (Local Agency Formation Commission), held a meeting at the Belfield Hall in Landers with approximately 100 citizens in attendance.  This was an out-reach to hear from the local citizens regarding their recent review of a proposed expanded Sphere of Influence, SOI, for CSA-70, zone W-1 south of Goat Mountain to the Big Horn Desert View Water Agency. At their January meeting, they denied the expansion of this zone consisting of approximately 500-600 customers after hearing from five or...

March 15, 2012
By
SUP-Jim-Bagley

Yucca Valley, Ca.- I received a telephone call from Candidate Jim Bagley on March 14th and he asked me why I was “mad at him.”  I thanked him for his call and explained that I was not mad, I was “irked.” Bagley wanted me to hear his version of the LAFCO meeting in Landers. He had just read the story posted on Cactus Thorns where I expressed I was irked he was campaigning at that meeting while being an official member of the agency. Link. In the beginning of...

Joshua Tree, Ca.- Firefighters were honored at an Appreciation Dinner held in the Copper Mountain College Bell Center gymnasium.  The dining area was roped off with walls of curtains , elegant tables were adorned with fresh flowers, but, the harsh glare of the overhead flood lights left much to be desired. Fortunately, the lack of ambiance and dancing floor did not take away from the honors bestowed to our finest. Firefighters of The Year-2012 Honorees Morongo Valley CSD- Steve Buckles CalFire -Andrew Arthen Combat Center Fire Department- Chad E....

Nuaimi Putting Out the Big Fires in Fontana?

March 13, 2012
By

Fontana, Cal.- According to the Press Enterprise article from January 9, 2012 ranking 47 local cities for their 2009-10 total RDA indebtedness, Fontana ranked #one with $2, 664,951,323 dollars.  (Yes, that’s Two Billion, Six Hundred Sixty Four million, Nine Hundred Fifty One Thousand + change.) While I do not pretend to know the exact dates the RDA debt was racked up, the previous mayor, Mark Nuaimi, would know more about this as he was the Mayor for  several years before resigning to take the job as the Yucca Valley...

I Was Irked! Jim Bagley Campaigns at LAFCO Meeting?

March 13, 2012
By
J.Bagley-FaceBook

Landers, Ca.- Last evening, I attended a San Bernardino LAFCO, Local Agency Formation Commission, meeting held in Landers.  Meeting the folks at the door was a gentlemen wearing a crisp blue shirt, no tie and no name tag, acting like the official greeter at WalMart. He was thanking everyone walking through the door for attending this LAFCO  meeting giving the appearance of a public official.  I wondered if I knew him from somewhere because he addressed me by my first name, Margo, but of course -I was wearing a...

March 11, 2012
By
Brighton-300x237

Last month, during one of the live call in talk shows, host Gary Daigneault and owner of the small local radio station, KCDZFM/ 107.7, endorsed Candidate Jim Bagley running for a seat as Third District Supervisor.  Daigneault admitted  they had a few run-ins in the past but felt Bagley was  suited to represent the area as a home-grown local from Twentynine Palms. Daigneault started to list Bagley’s “long list of qualifications,” as he put it but stopped short after citing #1, probably due to the possibility he would be...

San Bernardino Seal

Forget about the “Recommendations” of the City of Twentynine Palms or Yucca Valley Council members to nominate to the County of San Bernardino to fill County seats on the Successor Agency Oversight Board. You can apply directly to the SB Board of Supervisors for consideration. In a Successor Agency  Staff report presented by Mark Nuaimi, appointed Executive Director of the Successor Agency to the Yucca Valley Redevelopment Agency, dated March 1, 2012 , he spelled out the complete history leading up to the dissolution of the Redevelopment Agencies.  ...

Hey! HDWD Ed Muzik…..Where is my Apology?

March 9, 2012
By
"Hands Up!"

Yucca Valley, Ca- It seems that the General Manger of the Hi-Desert Water District, Ed Muzik, likes to play Hide & Seek trying to discredit my reputation.  The easiest thing to do as a dashing gentleman, is to politely apologize to me for the statements he made at the HDWD  meeting of February 15th. Here is a YouTube video to get you in the mood:              I’m Sorry. Muzik was misinformed and thought he caught me in a lie!!! Oooohhhh! My readers know that I do not lie….. make some...

Yucca Valley Council Votes to Wipe out “Zero-Depth Kiddie Splash Pad.” Yucca Valley, Ca-It was four years ago that Community Service Director Jim Schooler presented his staff report stating the Parks & Recreation Commission voted to apply the CDBG funds, Community Development Grant Funds, to one project to upgrade the playground equipment because the Town was out of compliance. That was NOT the case.  Fortunately, then Mayor Frank Luckino, opened up public comments again to hear from the Parks & Rec Commissioners seated in the audience.  Chair Mike Alberg...

What is “Pie in the Sky?”

Yucca Valley, Ca.- There are so many phrases and sayings that I have taken for granted but need to double check before using them on this public forum for any incorrect meaning, interpretations and/or slang meaning. The first search that I use is to Google the word or phrase to get the dictionary definition and general idea to determine if I need any further research. The next search engine that I will use is Wikipedia and finally Urban Dictionary for the modern-day slang definition.  The latter is not for...

HDWD Granny Graham Should Retire

February 26, 2012
By
Sarann Graham_a

Yucca Valley, Ca.- While I was recuperating and unable to attend meetings, the hi-jinks continued at the Hi-Desert Water District, led by President Sarann Graham. As I have been attending these meetings over the past four years, it is evident that Granny Graham is not quite on top of her game and should be thinking about retiring from the HDWD.  This District needs sharp thinkers, young minds with a business sense and able to think out of the box.  As she struggles to conduct meetings, often losing her place...
