Yucca Valley, Ca.- (Opinion) The Yucca Valley Planning Commission is finally meeting tonight to discuss, of all things, the Sign Ordinance.  There have been several cancelled meetings this past year for this commission due to…..lack of agenda items.  Besides, our area is not expected to rebound in the construction business for another five years.  Now that  Redevelopment Agency funds have gone away who knows if that will extend the building moratorium. This Planning Commission led by our fearless leader, Tim Humpreville aka “Luckino’s Leftovers,” was appointed by outgoing YV...

A Miffed Muffin is still Queen of her Hill!

Yucca Valley, Ca.-OPINION.  We live in a small community and if one waits with patience, the real truth comes out. It seems Miss Miffed Muffin did not have all of the facts in front of her when she went on a 300 word tirade in a Letter to the Editor, assisted by another not-so-secret-ghost-writer. I called her last Sunday and wished her a Happy Easter.  I must have awakened her from a nap because her responses were unclear.  I suggested we meet in person to straighten up a few...

Yucca Valley, Ca.- Friday the 13th at 10:am in the morning is the first meeting of the Oversight Board with some change-ups of members previously listed.  If there was a meeting to reconsider the new lineup, I don’t remember hearing about it.  Let me clarify that last sentence, if there was an open & public meeting to discuss the members, I did not receive an agenda or courtesy notice of such meeting. This Oversight Board meeting will be held in the Ocotillo Room at the Yucca Valley Community Center...

April 2, 2012
By

Yucca Valley, Ca.- Our little local radio station was advertising a special sale of Benadryl and Claritin during this allergy season. This ad was announced by a little employee, Cody Joseph,  in his usual nasal voice which made me think this guy could use some. I do not know anything about Claritin but I was especially interested in the Benadryl since I needed to purchase several packages for my specific health issue. I am extremely allergic to wasp or bee stings and I do not believe in generic drugs...

Yucca Valley, Ca.- I have been criticized for not giving credit for the good things that take place in our community so here is a Kudos coming right at ya! It takes courage and guts to stand up for what is right in this small community, often feeling like a lone voice of shinning brightness in the darkness of night.   The Hi-Desert Star, is very lucky to have Stacy Moore at the helm as Editor. Calling it like it is in the rare Editorials, Moore has seen it all...

Poor Quality Generic Drugs = RX for Death?

April 2, 2012
By
fdarescue

Las Vegas, Nevada- Do you feel lucky? Do you want to roll the dice on your health and well-being? Or take a chance with your child’s  asthma attack in an emergency? People who purchase generic medications have no way of judging the quality of the the generic drug or what country the ingredients come from. It doesn’t matter where you live in the United States if you purchase generic drugs, either prescribed or over the counter, you never know where the ingredients come from.  Additionally, a recent court ruling...
