Carrizo Plain's Solar Farm

This reminds me of the 177 acre abandoned solar power plant that was once deemed the largest photovoltaic array in the world. 70 miles west of Bakersfield CA. the remote Carrizo Plain’s status as one of the sunniest places in the state was exploited by the solar power industry from 1983 to 1994. This was by far the largest photovoltaic array in the world, with 100,000 1′x 4′ photovoltaic arrays producing 5.2 megawatts at its peak. The plant was originally constructed by the Atlantic Richfield oil company (ARCO) in...

California State Senator Jean Fuller (R-Bakersfield) is working to keep  Daphne Green in her job as Deputy Director of the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle  Recreation Division (OHMVRD) at California State Parks.  Senator Fuller has asked interested people (like us) to contact Deputy  Appointments Secretary Veronica Ortiz-Torres and other important Democratic  legislators to let them know that Ms. Greene is a problem-solver and has had  a positive impact on responsible OHV recreation in California. Since Governor Brown must appoint someone to the position by year end,  Senator Fuller recommends calling, faxing or emailing Ms. Ortiz-Torres.  See  her email...

The idiots guide to home defense

The first question to ask yourself is, “Would I or could I shoot someone in defense of myself or family?” This question will require some soul searching and should not be taken lightly. If the answer is “no” then do not buy a gun for self-defense. You may want to consider a baseball bat, tire iron, cast iron skillet, pepper gas, taser, a dog or something else. There are many options other than just a gun. In fact a gun by itself is not a cure all. Other forms...

Two Minutes to Support Public Access on 43 Million Acres

Good news about protecting access to your trails and public lands. Last week I was invited to testify before a Congressional House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forest and Public Lands in Washington DC. At the conclusion of my testimony I hand delivered a file storage box jammed full of over 3000 letters submitted by Save The Trails members in support of HR1581 to release these unsuitable lands back to multiple use. In response those opposing HR1581 hurriedly left the hearing and came back with what looked like a folder...

San Luis Obispo Activist Blogger Takes on Big Government and wins

San Luis Obispo, CA– Upon my own motion this morning in the San Luis Obispo (SLO) Superior Court, my Brown Act litigation brought against two Oceano Dunes particulate matter committees was dismissed. I am pleased to have taken this course of action as the SLO Air Pollution Control District appears to have taken note and has set a course to cease further Brown Act violations by disbanding the committees. My litigation was filed following violations of the Brown Act open meetings law that occurred with the creation of the...

What are good cleaning tools for woman?

What are good cleaning tools for woman as Christmas presents? I mean I love a clean house and all. Is it the broom or mop? What cleaning tool pleases a woman most? Are they pink? Is it a mix master or a Dyson hand help vacuum cleaner that really sucks? With pink tools for woman you won’t have many male persuasion borrowing and not returning the tools either. For some reason men are allergic to pink.  I need help please. Last year I got hit in the head with a frying pan.
