Road Projects Advance in County Areas On August 24, the San Bernardino Board of Supervisors took action to advance road projects in Oak Hills, Wrightwood, and Lucerne Valley. “I am especially pleased we are moving forward to improve the situation around the new Oak Hills High School,” said San Bernardino County First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt. “While the County didn’t build the new school or cause the additional traffic and isn’t obligated to address it, the El Centro Road paving project is an example of the County being a...

Mitzelfelt Continues Effort to Stop Job-Killing Climate Regulations

San Bernardino County Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt on April 23 sent a letter to all cities and counties in Southern California urging them to support the California Jobs Initiative in a statewide effort to suspend AB 32, also known as the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006. “If these greenhouse gas regulations are implemented, California will experience a significant setback to a struggling economic recovery,” said Supervisor Mitzelfelt, who recently convinced the Board of Supervisors to support the measure and to call for the repeal or suspension of the law....

Only in California… Solar plan hits snag

‘Lauded solar plan in San Bernardino County hits a snag’ : JoinBrad.com A 1,700-acre solar power development planned on former alfalfa fields west of Barstow is considered ideal by environmentalists and San Bernardino County officials because it would create jobs and provide clean power without destroying pristine wildlife habitat. But Abengoa Solar Inc. faces a big hurdle: The California Energy Commission staff has recommended that the company acquire and protect 1,588 acres of farmland elsewhere in California, along with water rights so it can be irrigated. The requirement is...

‘County says no to “job killer” law’

A state law to reduce carbon emissions 30 percent by 2020 took another hit Tuesday as the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to endorse an initiative to suspend it. If passed, the California Jobs Initiative would stop implementation of the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, better known as AB 32. The initiative needs 433,000 signatures by the end of June to qualify for November’s ballot, according to Anita Mangels, communications director for the initiative. “Our top priority has to be job creation. California already has...

FlashReport.org: Passing the Kool-Aid in D.C.

Passing the Kool-Aid in D.C. – FlashReport – Presented by Jon Fleischman 3-8-2010 3:05 pm Yesterday several interesting discussions took place at the Public Lands Steering Committee of the National Association of Counties in Washington, D.C. A disturbing trend I’m seeing is that a subject that increasingly comes up in meetings involving federal land managers is Global Warm- er … I mean ‘Climate Change’ (which is the term that attributes any change in the weather to greenhouse-gas emitting – read breathing – human beings). One speaker, Tom Tidwell, Chief...
