On December 2nd, 2009 at about 10:20 PM an officer from the Rancho Mirage Police Department attempted to stop a white BMW near Highway 111 and Rancho Rd. in Rancho Mirage. The vehicle evaded at a high rate of speed displaying driving actions consistent with driving under the influence of alcohol. The officer initiated a pursuit of the BMW.
The BMW collided with another vehicle on Bob Hope Dr. at the intersection of Gerald Ford Dr. The BMW yielded on Bob Hope Dr. north of Gerald Ford Dr. The driver and sole occupant was not injured and taken into custody at the scene. The two occupants of the other vehicle were not injured.
The driver was identified as Tamara Lehman, 49 years old out of Palm Desert. Tamara Lehman was arrested and booked into the Indio Jail for felony evading, driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs, possession of marijuana for sale, and possession of methamphetamine.
