Now I think this guy qualifies as the Dumb Ass of the week.

On December 1, 2009 at about 6:05 PM officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to a report of a subject in possession of child pornography. The suspect brought his computer to a computer repair shop on the 72200 Block of Hwy 111 in the City of Palm Desert.

Upon arrival officers detained Byran William Kaul, a 60-year-old Palm Desert resident, for possessing child pornography. It appears the computer technician discovered the pornography while repairing Mr. Kaul’s computer. The technician contacted the Palm Desert Police Department as soon as he discovered it.

During the course of this investigation, sufficient information was obtained that led to the authoring and service of two search warrants. One search warrant was served on a residence in the 43-000 block of Acacia Street, City of Palm Desert. The second search warrant was served on a residence in the 101-800 block of Sea Breeze Drive, in the unincorporated community of “North Shore.” Investigators were able to obtain evidence at both locations; the type, content and quantity are not being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

Mr. Kaul was booked into the Indio Jail on felony charges of possession of child pornography. His bail amount was set at only $5000.00 and he quickly posted bail and been released from custody.
