Boron AF Station, Ca– On August 11, 2010, Barstow Sheriff’s Station Deputy Holm was assigned to investigate a report of theft that occurred at the Boron Prison located just north of the Kramer Junction. Investigation revealed that Bruce Peebles, 53 of Hesperia and Robert Louis Tucker, 33 of Apple Valley, had utilized various types of tools to locate, dig up, and remove multiple sections of electrical wiring both underground and from abandoned buildings aboard the complex. During the evening shift on August 11, 2010, Barstow Sheriff’s Station Deputies received information that the suspects were back on the property at the Boron Prison allegedly taking wiring. Deputies Ferguson and Ramos responded to the location and located a vehicle which had been left behind by the suspects. Follow-up investigation with the registered owner of the vehicle determined that Peebles and Tucker were operating the vehicle. The vehicle was stored as evidence.
On August 12, 2010 at approximately 7:50 a.m., Peebles was located away from the crime scene by Sheriff’s Detective Ferber after a call for Trespassing was initiated by the staff at the FAA Radar Tower aboard the Boron Prison grounds. Peebles was detained for further investigation and was ultimately placed under arrest by Deputy Holm at approximately 8:40 a.m. Further investigation revealed that Tucker was still in the area on foot at the time that Peebles was detained.
During a search of Peebles’ vehicle, recycling receipts were discovered in the glove box with Tucker’s name on them for surrendering lead, copper, and other metals at a recycling plant in Hesperia, CA.
A search was conducted at Peebles’ residence and evidence was located indicating the stolen property had been salvaged at a local recycler.
Peebles was booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dept. Barstow Jail on August 12, 2010 for Grand Theft, Vandalism and a Failure to Appear Warrant. Peebles is currently out of custody on bail.
Contact was made with Tucker on August 18, 2010 where he was arrested for his participation in the offense and booked into the Barstow jail for Grand Theft, Vandalism and a warrant for Driving Under the Influence. He is being held on $75,000 bail.

Now I hope I am not called on the jury for this one. Long before Boron was a prion it was Air Force property. I was TDY at Boron during the 1970s and really liked the then Boron Air Force Station. I did a job a few years back for a friend who had a contract with the FAA. I really liked the little place and think it should be preserved as a classic “Cold War” missile support base. I hope they fry these pricks.
