Our shame, a Dark Sky’ed 4th of July

Either we have a completely useless group of shit birds running this town or we have a bunch of phony bastards that talk the talk of patriotism but are incapable of walking the walk. Either way they have let the citizenry down in a most disrespectful way.

The 4th of July is the single most important unifying holiday of this Republic. No other holiday is to commemorate the very birth of what has become the United States of America.

Its a pretty god damned sad set of town leaders that would give most of their discretionary money to a punch of pansy assed limp wrested thespians, rather than saving up a couple of thousand dollars for a Patriotic day of celebration that we old timers call the 4th of July. You know that day we proclaimed Independence.

This was the first year that I can think of that there wasn’t a single thing done in town officially to mark Independence Day.

We  spend a half million dollars to give a new home for a Chamber of Commerce that doesn’t even represent commerce but we couldn’t buy a 5 minute fireworks display for the enjoyment for the whole town?

Now I don’t want to hear that it is somehow the responsibility of the Marine Corps Base to supply the fireworks for the town. That’s Bull shit and we all should know it.

It’s not uncommon for many towns to have their Chambers or other civic organizations seek donations during the year for their 4th of July Celebration. As I remember we used to do that ourselves until recent years where everyone got all jittery about liability and who is in charge. What has happened is everyone is so worried about themselves they could give a damned about their fellow citizen. Too Bad. Today we have a bunch of silly savages trumpeting how they got the lead in Les Misérables or worried about finger painting frigging lizards on vacant Commercial Buildings.

Well I am moved to talk with others in this town to see what can be done to never again not celebrate the Founding of our Republic. You know do something requiring a tad more testosterone than what has been shown by our civic leaders as of late. We should be ashamed of our selves or at least ashamed of our those town leaders.

I move that we start a new organization that’s express purpose is to raise funds for and present a yearly pyrotechnic gala for the City of Twentynine Palms and is surrounding sister communities. That we should set our goal each year to create a fireworks display and town picnic in accordance with the long standing national traditions of Patriotism and respect for God, Family and Country.

Let’s mark this as the last time we let our kids and grand kids down. Let’s see what we can do to get this off the ground for next year.

  1. Years ago the 29 palms Jc’s had jars in all the stores in town to collect money for the fireworks show at the sports field next to Lucky Park. What a grand time all the people of 29 palms had coming to the park early to find a spot. While others grilled steaks , hamburgers, and kids were excited about the up and coming show.
To me that is part of the American culture.
Now that we have a communist in the white house we need this kind of thing more and more.

What I am trying to say is this town is dead on July 4th. I don’t want to hear the old line of BS that says, well we just don’t have enough money, things are tight . BS! Did the chamber or the action 29 ever wonder how many people would make Hotel reservations in 29 palms to stay the weekend and eat and watch fireworks ?

People we are complacent about living in this desert . Other people that live in a concrete hell spend money to come here just to look at some mountains, or maybe shoot a gun they got for Christmas two years ago that are unable to discharge a weapon in CRAP town TJ LA.

What is reason we are not having a City of 29 palms firework show ? Is it that we just don’t have anyone to handle it ?

Come on the powers that be. Surprise us !
