CZ Ron Aldrich passed away Monday night from a massive heart attack. Ron was one of the founders of the CZ Club here on the west coast and was one of the guy’s that started vintage racing as we know it out here way before AHRMA came into existence. There are many of us who knew him and he will be truly missed. He was an all around great guy and would do anything for anybody.
“Ron was such a good guy. He was responsible for keeping the CZ World Championship alive over three decades ago. He convinced track owners to build tracks suitable for vintage racing, i spent many hours and days helping him groom tracks for vintage racing so we could all race our beloved CZ`s. This was at the beginning of vintage MX racing, before the CVRG and later AHRMA.
He will never get credit for it and he would not have asked for it but i credit him for the growth of vintage MX racing in it`s beginning, this was at a time when there was no Vintage Iron or people with $$$ collections or their own personal museums these people came way later. Ron just loved motorcycles and at the top of his list were his CZ`s and all he wanted to do was to continue to race and ride them.
Ron was the real deal a good friend and someone you could trust, he would do anything for you if you asked. We spent many a day racing and riding together, i will always have found memories of the times that we spent together.
I will miss you my friend, hope they have a CZ twinport waiting for you up there, RIP.”
I personally knew Ron for over 20 years. He was a true friend, he will be missed in the Hilltopper Community and the racing world at large.” Dan O’Brien said. “He was another instrumental individual that brought the 29 Palms Grand Prix to life.”
