Morongo Basin, Ca.,- Maybe if appointee Elizabeth Karman, resident of Landers, had taken a “Time Out” she wouldn’t have lost her cool sitting on the elevated platform of the Big MAC dais, San Bernardino Municipal Advisory Council, during last meeting of June 9, 2014. Karman Property profile-Landers
Instead of sitting patiently emoting a drop of concern or pretending to listen, Karman grabbed the microphone to scold the residents for not organizing against the SOI, Sphere of Influence, placed over the Desert Heights community.
While her husband, seated in the front row, tried to signal her to back off and calm down, Elizabeth Karman took on Chief Jim Thompson of the 29 Palms Fire Department insisting she knew the City of 29 Palms had initiated the SOI, even though she was not familiar with the specifics of that case.
Unwilling to listen to the facts presented by Chief Thompson, Karman continued with her verbal push back.
Who gave her the authority to scold the residents for not resisting the Sphere of Influence? Say what Elizabeth?
Karman lost her composure, again, forgetting her duty is to LISTEN to the citizens of the San Bernardino County about their concerns.
The agenda item was to listen to the residents of Desert Heights as they pleaded for representation on the MAC, not for Karman to pass judgement speaking in her condescending tone to scold them.
Karman is the worse appointee sitting on this Big MAC unable to perform her duty to hear, listen and forward concerns to Supervisor James Ramos. Supervisor Ramos’ Chief of Staff sat through most of the meeting seen in the above photo in the blue shirt reviewing his red smartphone and taking notes.
Karman’s reactions towards the Desert Heights residents and some of the above events are documented in the Desert Trail newspaper. This meeting in its entirety will be posted on YouTube. (See Big MAC April, Big MAC May and this meeting: Big MAC June.)
