Caught by Another Journalist!

Yucca Valley, Ca.,- It is really cool to have a wide range audience of readers tune in to Cactus Thorns and especially to my personal posts.

The keen eye of Larry Briggs catches a few typos and misspellings on Cactus Thorns and it is appreciated because he adds a few comments on the stories from time to time.

Accomplished journalists, reporters, publishers and editors chime in with questions, comments, corrections and suggestions. I am contacted directly, or in a comment asking for clarification from professionals in the business like Paparazzi…who has not made any comments for a long while.

So please understand, when I chose this title “Caught by Another Journalist,” I do not consider myself to be one, per se.  I will use one of my favorite french phrases, “moite-moite,” to describe myself. I am a “Blogger” with high expectations of myself for accuracy and journalistic integrity…yet not quite a journalistic reporter.

As a Blogger, I know I have no limitations in use of sentence structure or proper grammar except to the degree I wish to make my “Favorite Son” cringe, who holds a PHD in English. I am a lady and watch my language, but I have heard it all because I wasn’t born yesterday.

When my stories are submitted to be published and printed in a newspaper, I must crank up the journalistic integrity to the max without any misleading innuendos or gray areas accompanied with PDF files of records secured by Public Information Requests to keep the lawyers happy. Blogging on the internet allows for the most freedom of speech and I am aware there are Do’s and Don’ts.

I recently posted a story that caught the keen eye of one of my favorite newspaper reporters who contacted me directly by email. The post gave the impression that I was in attendance at a meeting, when in fact, I was not, nor were there any DVD recordings of that meeting.

So let me wrap this up by with my comment to the story for all to read:

“…according to parties close to the situation who asked to remain anonymous.”

As a point of clarity, I should have started out by placing the above statement in the beginning of my post, rather than inserting in the body of the story to emphasize that I did NOT attend this meeting.

This story was complied after several interviews with parties (plural), by phone and interviewing several persons (at another yet meeting) on Monday evening before posting.

As a rule, I am in attendance or have reviewed the DVD of meetings I report on. Please know there are attendees that call, email or text me during various meetings that I am not able to attend.

Thank you my friend for your suggestion about this situation and I do agree with you…”otherwise it’s misleading to journalistic integrity.” Story Source>LINK
