10 years later and it’s pretty much the same old thing

Every so often I go through  the archives of stories I have written over the past 10 years we have been chicken-little.net, recall29, vote29, a finally Cactus Thorns.

Over the years the writing has improved, and thank goodness for others jumping in and lending a hand on the stories. We now have a volunteer writing staff that beats the hell out of most small town newspapers, well at least the two we have.

One of the great things that has happen is the cooperation of the Indy Media in the Basin. While we do not agree on many things politically nor do we orbit  the same social worlds, we all get along and are eager to lend one another a hand when buffeted or attacked by the local main stream media thugs.

I value the relationships that I have been able to develop over the years with those folks who are now my friendly competitors. We have so much in common. For instance not only do we have a great eclectic population to write bout, we all have Gary Daigneault, Morongo Basin’s lil’ Hall of Fame Radio Gremlin.

The one constant over the years is the battle of them against us. Us being the everyday Jack and Jill in town trying to make ends meet and keeping our heads as best we can above water. The them turns out to be about a 100 or so folks in the basin that have figured that they not only want to have theirs but want yours too. Who knows why, I think it is because they are all just a bunch of mean sons a bitches that never got their moma’s love. Who knows.

The leader of the pack of these just mean spirited ogres today is the little Gremlin himself. What’s funny about this mean streak Gary’s got is it only comes out for him when it comes to news and politics for the gremlin. He’ll eviscerate little old ladies or crush puppies under foot,  the less able to defend themselves the better, if he thinks he can get an ada boy from his sick little peer group. .

Hell he’d french kiss of a fellow actor, but won’t even shake the hand of a fellow news gatherer. Go figure. We’re just doing what we love. We are all communicators.

His mean old soul being around, has been a blessing for me. Hell in cases where I’m stuck without a good news story, like tonight, it is nice to be able to fall back on a good rant about Gary Daigneault. He is as identifiable to most folks in the Basin as one of the biggest ass holes in the valley, therefore an easy target. I’m kind of glad he’s here. Live long and slither.
