Update: The Hi-Desert Water District will hold two sewer outreach meetings today, May 12, 2014. There will be two presentations at the Yucca Valley Community Center. One at 12:30 and 5:00 PM.
Yucca Valley, Ca.,- There is a full color half-page ad in the local newspaper in today’s issue advertising the HDWD Sewer/Reclamation Project “Community Meetings Coming to Your Community!”
One BIG problem, the area set aside for the dates and times of the meetings is BLANK! Can anyone guess how much this ad cost the ratepayers?
This is the THIRD time the newspaper ads have been screwed up…the first time there was an error in the proof and the black letters were printed on the dark navy blue background. There were assurances this would be straightened out BEFORE the next printing. Since it was a Staff error, the newspaper would not give any refund.
The SECOND goof-up was, again, the same full color ad that no one could read. This very expensive ad goof-up was immediately defended by Director Sarann Graham as her knee jerk reaction without the facts! It turns out that Staff was too busy and “forgot” to make the necessary changes. What a waste of rate payer’s money…again! No credit or refund for this ad either!
And NOW we have this HUGE color ad without any mention of meeting locations, dates or times! I guess we are supposed to find a Ouija Board and ask the big questions.
Check the website you say? Nope! Nothing on either website regarding the meetings.
Ooops! Oh yes! On their Facebook page there are listings for TWO meetings on May 12, 2011 and May 16, 2011.
Citizens have been trying to find out the information and the only thing that was confirmed is the HDWD has reserved the Yucca Valley Community Center for all day this Monday, May 12, 2014.
There is no reason this should be a game of “Hide n’ Seek” for citizens to learn more about the $140 million dollar project (revised up from $125 million) the HDWD seeks to assess our homes to pay for this system.
Is this the result from the HDWD policy of “training on the job” or hiring a public relations firm to arrange for the outreach? Where are the professionals that are experienced on these matters?
With this level of incompetency, I doubt very much the citizens will pass the assessment vote.
How can the ratepayers place millions of dollars into the hands of the HDWD with these continuous fumbles?
