Yucca Valley, Ca,- Well..well..well. They’re back at it again! What a bunch of stinkin’ crock! The Yucca Valley Planning Commission pleads for citizens to attend and look what happens! I sat through a 3 hour meeting at the Yucca Valley Planning Commission meeting and was treated horrible by Chair Tim Humphreville.  At least I had an opportunity to address the entire commission and they all decided to HOLD A WORK SHOP TO DISCUSS GUN SALES OUT OF THE HOME!

There was an advertisement in the legals for a public hearing on this ordinance but NO mention of a citizen workshop to receive input from the community.

Here is the Press Release from the town on this controversial issue.  You can expect it will be a dull long meeting and this issue will be placed last on the agenda folks! This smells like the works of Chair Humphreville and acting Town Manager, Shane Stueckle, meeting behind closed doors to set this agenda.

“At the Planning Commission meeting of May 13, 2014, the Planning Commission will be holding a public hearing to discuss regulations for home occupations or home based businesses.

The Planning Commission will discuss a number of policy issues related to home based businesses including exemptions from obtaining a permit, hours of operation, prohibited businesses, outdoor storage, approval authority, conducting business activities in the primary structure, accessory structures and in screened outdoor locations, in addition to other standards.

Please join the Planning Commission as they prepare the standards and regulations for Town Council consideration.”

Development Code Update:  The Planning Commission is continuing to move through the Development Code Update project.  The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Article 3, General Development Standards, as well as a public hearing on Article 2, Zoning Districts and Development Standards.

Please join the Planning Commission on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 6:00pm at the Yucca Valley Community Center Yucca Room.

Please contact the Town Yucca Valley at (760) 369-1265 ext.317 for further project information.”

Margo, you’re way off target on this one.

If you had attended the last PC meeting, you would of known this was coming before the PC again at the 13 may Meeting. No conspiracy. Heck, the media didn’t even show at the last meeting. HOP’s or Home Occupation Permit’s will be discussed at the next meeting. Because I will be out of town for the meeting, I specifically requested the PC open the item for public comment and then continue the item to the next meeting. A workshop isn’t the answer for everything. The government process is slow enough as it is.

Weapon related businesses and several others are on the radar.

  2. 4 out of 5 Commissioners AGREED to have a workshop for community input. That did not happen. It was advertised in the newspaper for a “HEARING” on the ordinance. HEARINGS=DONE DEALS in Yucca Valley.

The Development Code has been creeping along for several years…and now there is a rush?

4 out of 5 Commissioners AGREED to a PUBLIC WORKSHOP for input on Home Occupation Permits, especially due to the recent uproar of a person requesting to sell guns in a residential neighborhood:

    Steve Whitten
    Warren Lavender
    Vickie Bridenstein
    Jeff Drozd

Why didn’t these four Commissioners keep their word?

That was a “Super Majority” decision, how could the Chair (& Shane Stueckle) over rule a super majority?

There was no reason for me to attend the last meeting “to hear” this was going to be on the agenda when I had all the full expectation there would be a Community Workshop before moving this item forward.

No Steve, I am not way off target…YOU did not keep your word.

Why do you even show up to review these items when FOUR Commissioners agreed for a work shop but were over ruled by the lousy Chair, Tim Humphreville in cahoots with Shane Stueckle?

The Chair only runs the meetings, he is not the policy maker…

Geeesh Steve…open your eyes. Thanks for the postponement…

I see it my way and you see it you’re way, no big deal, the sky isn’t falling. There has been no circumvention of the process. You are right about public participation and input. How it happens doesn’t matter as long as it happens and that starts Tuesday.

I don’t see the difference between selling AVON products or a Glock. In fact my right to the Glock is preserved in the Federal Constitutions Bill of Rights and accordingly incorporated into our state’s rights by way of the 14th Amendment.

I can assure you, more men are brought to destruction (distraction) by the indiscriminate use of AVON products than are taken out by firearms.

This is the problem with the hellish excess of government and the open discrimination of Zoning Laws.

Government in some ways has made it easier to get a home occupancy permit than being able to license a commercial piece of property.

Local Government like State and the Federal Governments, is broken…

    Less micromanagement not more.
