WATER DISTRICT TO ASK CITY FOR $165,000

TWENTYNINE PALMS — Desert Heights taxpayers are funding the downtown Adobe Road fire station to the tune of $165,000 a year, Fire Chief Jim Thompson told Twentynine Palms Water District directors last week.
“Is the city willing to offset that $165,000 that Desert Heights residents are paying and not receiving any service for?” Thompson asked the board during a special public meeting Wednesday, April 30.
“How will you present that to the city?” Vice-President Chancey Chambers asked Thompson. “I don’t want to send an undefendable presentation because we’re not there. It has to be out in the open, we need to have this conversation as two bodies. Everybody will see the city and the water district talk about this.” For the rest of this story>link
