Both ATT & Verizon wireless phone service were out from 11pm and restored at 10pm this evening. I was having lunch at Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant and discovered the owner’s cell phone was working…he had T-Mobile. No sense borrowing his phone…most of our area use ATT or Verizon. Those of us using Verizon Jet-Packs for wireless internet were out of luck too.
As most of you know, there is no cable, satellite or television in this household so it was difficult to find out what was going on. Using my land line, I was able to call the companies but they did not have any details except to say…they are working to restore service. Texting did not work either and most of us had to rely on brain-wave telecommunications.
As “they”say…if you read it on Facebook…it must be true! Here is one of several reports posted this evening.
FACEBOOK POST:Officials with Telepacific Communications said phone outages are affecting over two hundred and fifty customers and Southern California Edison is reporting power outages across Riverside County.
Telepacific said a fiber ring was cut in San Bernardino and 261 customers are without cell service. Government buildings in the cities of Indio and Palm Springs are also experiencing phone outages. We have not been able to confirm if other carriers have been affected.
We’ve also heard phone outages are impacting many other businesses across the Coachella Valley.
SCE is reporting power outages due to windy conditions. Officials said 10,500 customers in Riverside County are currently without power.
Both companies are working to resolve the issues.
News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will provide updates when more information is available.
