Morongo Basin, As posted by Cactus Thorns on March 16, 2014, local Landers resident Mike Lipsitz will be hired effective April 21st as the Field Representative for Third District Supervisor, James Ramos.  Lipsitz, who is also employed by Z107.7 radio as a news reporter, will have to walk a fine line to hold down these two paying positions which are both physically taxing. As per the vendor contract, Lipsitz will be required to undergo a physical examination by the SB County.

Lipsitz base salary will be $48,191 with benefits of $2,048 for a total of $50,239.  Lipsitz will be filling the position vacated by Donna Munoz, who was hired for an annual salary of $36,875. (Munoz Doc>162063604212014095039120 ) Munoz had previous Field Rep experience in her resume, was extremely knowledgeable about the Brown Act and meeting procedures having served as a member of the Morongo Basin School Board and other committees during her career.

Lipsitz, as the elected Chair of the Big MAC, is expected to step down before the next meeting to allow MAC members to vote for a new Chair.

Here is the Cactus Thorns “speculation” post as revealed by County insiders, (I kept my promise): LINK

Best wishes to Mike Lipsitz and Z107.7 News Radio for this appointment to a very stressful job.  Perhaps Z107.7 should award Lipsitz a handsome “cash bonus” for this wonderful achievement

Here is an opportunity for Lipsitz to mitigate some representation for Yucca Mesa AND Desert Heights as another example of leadership to allow Elizabeth Karman who resides in Landers to “represent” Landers in his place…we’ll see.

Thanks Margo for good local reporting.

  2. Margo is such an asset to the Morongo Basin and this CT. Thanks a bunch Margo for all you do and keeping all of us unformed.

Congratulations Mike Lipsitz. I think he is a fine choice.

Hopefully, some day, Desert Heights might be recognized as an area in the San Bernardino and Morongo Basin Desert with real people with real concerns and real needs who pay real taxes just like everyone else in all the other areas. Maybe, some day, the curse would be broken of TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.
