Flock denys Alderson ability to Speak During Free Comment Time

In what can only be explained as pure political denial of the 1st Amendment, Freedom of Speech, Mayor Flock last night stopped Carey Alderson in his attempt of political speech under the 4.0 PUBLIC COMMENTS – This is the time for the public to address the City Council.

• 4.1 This is the time for the public to address the City Council on issues within the jurisdiction of the City Council that are not on this agenda. All comments are to be directed to the City Council and shall not consist of any personal attacks. Members of the public are expected to maintain a professional, courteous decorum during their comments. There is a time limitation of three minutes per person. If you haven’t already done so, please fill out name and address slips and give them to the City Clerk. The City Council is prohibited by State law from taking action or discussing items not included on the printed agenda.

Alderson took the only option he had in rebutting a savage attack on him on local radio and was shut down by Steve Flock, for making a political speech.

I hate to break it to you Flock but all speech in front of the Council is political. You sit on a frigging political body, you moron. You did what you did for personal reasons that in your mind help your reelection. Your stupid. Alderson now has a potential tort against the city and you personally you idiot. The 1st Amendment is all about political speech, you violated Alderson’s Rights.

Carey Alderson had every right to take his three minutes and talk about the political ramifications of the “man in the moon” if it had been his desire, but you cut him off in what might have been the most important speech of his life.

No amount of belated apologies can be given by you can make this right. You need to resign and never darken the dais with your presence again.
