20140405_174003Twentynine Palms, CA The First Weekend of April for the last 18 years has been the most important three days of the year. While others in town get dewy eyed and gooey undies  for  an art festival or a carnival sideshow, I love the sound of motorcycles and the smell of racing fuel.

For 8 of those 18 race weekends the Family has set up Mustard’s Last Stand to provide, what we feel is, the best hot dogs this side of Pinks. Fay,  my cousin Chris Bridge and I worked the three day holiday without a hitch.

Once again we served out several hundred hot dogs, Hamburgers and Nachos.  With our friends John and Sharron Scott of famed  Papa’s Smokehouse BBQ, race fans were treated to the best food in the Basin.

My wife and I were guests of honor at the Traditional Hillopper BBQ on Friday night.  There I was to find I was inducted as a Honorary Member of the Hilltoppers Motor Cycle Club. It was and is a honor that truly filled my heart with pride. I was tongue tied and stupefied.  When asked to speak I mumbled something…. Don’t ask me what. I hope I can live up to the expectations of all my friends and neighbors in the Off Road Racing Community.

While the economy continues to be disappointing and money is tight, once again the racers came to town and the crowds gathered at the 29 Palms Grand Prix. Its always well worth the drive to 29 Palms.

Remember the First Weekend of April 2015! Two solid days of exciting balls to the wall racing. We will see you there.

We would like to thank the Hilltoppers, the City of Twentynine Palms, and Race Fans for your constant and steadfast support of this event. Now lets get out today and start the promotion for 2015′s race date.

  1. This is really an incredible and positive jolt to the city. Anyone going up there for the first time will be overwhelmed at the size and importance of this event.

Ded the city have a sign welcoming the Hilltoppers 29 Palms Grand Prix visitors? As I recall the city did this in the past.

You see, there is more to life in 29 outside the circle of art.

It’s a shame the facility is used only 3 days a year for racing. why can’t more events be brought there?

  2. michaelv michaelv says:

Great news Dan! I am happy to hear that it was another successful race event.

  3. Stanley Stanley says:

Congrats Dan. That may be the first time I have seen you lost for words.
