2groverSAN BERNARDINO, CA – Last Friday, District Attorney candidate Grover Merritt cobbled together over $29,000 to file a candidate statement to appear in the June sample ballot mailed to all San Bernardino County voters.

Because Merritt’s fundraising has been anemic, showing a paltry $4,600 raised through December 31, 2013, it’s a mystery how he came up with over $31,000 to file his candidacy papers and statement.

Now we know where Grover’s windfall came from. On March 6, Upland Realty Equities V, Inc. donated $4,000 to Grover. It is Grover’s largest campaign donation to date, just under the County’s maximum contribution level. The agent for service is Mark G. Davidson.

Davidson is Colonies defendant Jeff Burum’s business partner in Second Ave. Saloon in Upland. Burum and Davidson are listed as stock holders on their California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control license.

Local dentist Dr. Paul Olivera donated $2,000 to Grover on March 6. While we can’t prove a business relationship between Dr. Olivera and Burum, they sure look chummy leaving a Colonies corruption hearing on August 19, 2011.

“It looks like Grover is funded almost exclusive by associates of the criminal defendant in the biggest corruption case in this county’s history. Is Grover the next puppet?” concluded Ramos campaign consultant David Ellis. STORY SOURCE> LINK
