JOSHUA TREE, CAWith an incomparable 50-year tradition of award-winning theater, the Hi-Desert Cultural Center is proud to present Valerie-Jean Hume’s original multi-award-winning play, LUSH!, that will play for two special encore performances March 8th & 9th at the Center’s Blak Box Theater!

Having won “Best Original Writing”, “Best Production”, “Best Director” & more from the Desert Theatre League, LUSH! is the story of Marty Maan, the first woman to join Alcoholics Anonymous. Everyone knows about the two men who started it, Bill W. and Dr. Bob, but who was the “first lady”? Born to wealth and privilege in Chicago, Marty wound up a homeless drunk on a park bench, due to her battle with the bottle. AA had begun a few years before, but it was “men only”, and nobody then believed women could be alcoholics! Marty had to fight for her place in The Program. Starring Dean Apple, Ron Young, Ted Pethes, & VJ Hume.

LUSH! will play at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theater for two special encore performances – Saturday March 8th at 7pm, and a Sunday matinee March 9th at 2pm. Tickets are $20 for general seating and $25 for elite seating. To purchase tickets, click the “Buy Tickets” button above, call 760.366.3777 or go online to www.hidesertculturalcenter.com.
