PE-Colonies Case at a Glance

November 2006: San Bernardino supervisors approved a $102 million settlement with Colonies Partners, developer of a housing and retail center in Upland.

February 2010: Prosecutors file corruption charges against former Assessor Bill Postmus and former Assistant Assessor Jim Erwin.

May 2011: A grand jury indicts Erwin, developer Jeff Burum, former Supervisor Paul Biane and Mark Kirk, former chief of staff to Supervisor Gary Ovitt, months after Postmus reaches a plea deal.

December 2013: California Supreme Court restores some charges against Burum that had been dismissed by a lower court judge, allowing the case which had been on hold to move ahead again.

January 2014: Burum’s attorney accuses prosecutors of misconduct and files multiple dismissal motions. Hearings tentatively planned for May.
