Indian Wells deputies responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Highway 111 and Village Court. A Honda Civic was stopped for the westbound traffic signal when it was rear ended by a Jeep Laredo.
Larry Lavon Zeigler, age 69 of Cathedral City, was driving the Jeep and he sustained minor injuries. Zeigler declined medical treatment. The driver of the Honda was not injured. The investigation revealed that Zeigler had been driving while impaired by a controlled substance. Additionally Zeigler was found to be in possession of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia.
Zeigler was arrested and transported to the county jail in Indio where he was booked for possession of a controlled substance, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended driver’s license.
The Indian Wells Police Department reminds drivers not to drink or use drugs and drive. If you see someone that may be driving while impaired, you are encouraged to call 9-1-1.
